We stayed in the front apartment overlooking the canal. The apartment was comfortable and spacious. The Contessa lived in the apartment above us and was very helpful and gave us much interesting information about the house and the locality. The location is very convenient as it is just a few minutes walk from the Salute vaporetto stop. It is near...

Four of us stayed here for the last few days of Carnivale. From the moment we entered the canal by water taxi, to the moment we left, it was a joy. Five minute stroll in the morning to buy croissants for breakfast, to some very agreeable restaurants and to a vaporetto stop - couldn't be more convenient. Comfortable beds -...

This is our third stay at the Palazzetto da Schio, after three previous visits to Venice, and having discovered this gem, we wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else! The location is superb (near Salute, the Academia, and both the Grand and the Giudecca Canals), the palazzetto is elegant (but comfortable and homey), and the neighborhood is blessedly quiet. Best of...

Our trip to Italy was going to last two weeks and we could not have found a better place to start our journey. The Palazzetto da Schio was even more lovely than expected. We had a beautiful 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment right on the canal. The location is just fabulous - we were able to walk every where...

Wonderfully located near the Salute vapretto stop. Walking distance to academia bridge area and many small out of the tourist area restaurants. The Contessa is very welcoming and very helpful in getting you oriented and settled. We stayed in #1 and it was comfortable and charming. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

My colleague and I had a wonderful stay at Palazzetto da Schio when visiting Venice for the Biennale. We took our breakfast each morning in the garden courtyard and were conveniently located to all our destinations. The Contessa was extremely helpful in orienting us to the surrounding area.

In May 2015, I was able to return to Palazzetto da Schio in beloved Venice. With my friends, I spent a week in the beautiful rooftop apartment overlooking the canal. With two gorgeous bedrooms and two bathrooms, we enjoyed a lot of space and tranquility in this tastefully decorated and most comfortable place. We felt very welcome and at home,...

I don't think you could find a better place to stay in Venice than this spacious, beautifully furnished apartment (#2). Located in Dorsoduro, just a five minute walk to Santa Maria del Salute church and not much further to the Academia Bridge, and yet -- because it is a residential area -- as quiet as the countryside at night. The...

My husband and I stayed at Palazzetto da Scio for three weeks in May2015. Our stay in Apartment No. 2, on the top floor overlooking the garden was just perfect ! The water taxi delivered us to the door of the Palazzetto da Schio and we were initially greeted by the Contessa's charming and friendly maid as the contessa was busy settling in other guests. Within minutes the contessa arrived to welcome us and show us how everything worked. Nothing was too much trouble and from the start we had the...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palazzetto da Schio has been my family residence in Venice for a few centuries; the house is XVIth century, and I have completely restored it dividing it into 5 apartments, for myself, my relatives and for my guests.Apt N.1 «PIANO NOBILE» is my own home and it is available for all kinds of parties and receptions.Apt N.2 «TOP FLOOR/WEST» is on the top floor, at the back of the house: the view is very pleasant on the rooftops of Venice and the garden below. It has a bedroom with queen size bed, one bathroom, one sitting room (with a comfortable bed-sofa for a third guest) and a big livable kitchen. Apts N.3 and N.4 «TOP FLOOR/EAST» AND «MEZZANINE-CANAL» are, respectively, on the top floor and on the mezzanine floor. They are available all year round. The plans of these two apartments are very similar: two bedrooms (one with queen size bed, the other with two or three single beds), 2 bathrooms, one sitting room and a small kitchen. The top floor apt. has also a sofa trundle bed for two extra guests. All the rooms are on the front of the house with a very nice view over the canal and plenty of light and sun.Apt N.5 «MEZZANINE-GARDEN» is on the mezzanine floor on the back of the house ; it is very quiet, with a restful view of the garden with its medieval well. It has a bedroom with queen size bed, a living-room with an alcove (elevated from the floor) that has two extra beds, a bathroom and a kitchen. The furniture of all the apartments is mostly antique ranging from the XVII century onwards, but water, gas, electricity and telephone systems are all modern and independent. Each apartment is completely equipped with linen, blankets, kitchen ware, etc.We have Wi-fi Internet connection in the house, free for all the guests. The little garden is at the disposal of all the guests. We are in the Dorsoduro area, very close to the Salute, on Rio della Fornace, which is the second canal joining the Grand Canal to the Giudecca Canal. ... more   less
