I love the beautiful rooms and well decorated common areas. The breakfast provided is excellent. Bathrooms are equipped with best amenities. Just like a boutique 5 star hotel. I will recommend it to couples definitely. Venice isn't a place to bring young children as a vacation destination, unless they are above 5 years old. Venice is stroller unfriendly - and...

After having visited Venice several times, we came across this charming b&b right in the city centre more or less by accident. We did not regret our booking for a single second. It turned out to be a perfect location with wonderful hosts. We truly felt as if having a second home there and can give this b&b our full...

This B&B was very easy to get to from the train station. We hopped on the Vaporetto and enjoyed the ride down the Grand Canal to the Santa Maria del Giglio stop. The B&B was just down the street from the stop. The location was not only convenient, it was beautiful. You could look out over the canal and watch...

What an introduction to Venice - we were truly spoilt staying in the Junior suite for 4 nights in June. Gio & Gio offers the best of everything , just minutes from Santa Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop and within easy walking distance of the best of Venice. The house itself is delightful, superbly decorated, very comfortable and the fact...

To experience the real Venice this is the place to stay. My wife and I arrived at 1am in the morning and even at that time of the morning there was Gianni with his friend Gianni with open armsand smiles to greet us. Even at that point we knew that this would be a place to remember. Gianni would have...

Great location centrally located close to EVERYTHING you would want to see and visit while in Venice. Gianni is one of the most gracious host that I have met in my travels. Very informative about what to see, where to go, where to buy wine, food, etc. and where NOT to go. Ironically we share the same birthday, so he...

Stayed two nights in June with teenage daughter and we both loved it, one of the few things we agree about! Gio & Gio is the same price as a central Venice budget hotel but a completely different and far superior experience. I'd more than endorse every single good thing people have already said about this place! Thank you for...

Stayed one night 3 June 2012, loved it and the hosts. You are treated like family. Location is excellent, gondola station is outside the front door next to a good restaurant. B&B is close to San Marco, Rialto & Academia. The owner met us at the dock and let us check in early to drop our bags while we walked...

As our first trip to Venice, staying at Gio & Gio B&B made our experience most memorable and left with the best impressions. Giavani was a most gracious host. Located close to water bus/taxi points, between San Marco and Realto markets, and many key sights. Had all the Venice picturesque at its doorstep--bridge, canal, Gondolas, and a fantastic ristorante. Spectacular...

We are a young couple and enjoyed the 2 nights stay at Gio&Gio very much. The location was simply the best, in the heart of Venice, everything in walking distance. The room looked exactely like it is shown on the pictures and the entire appartment is decorated in a fantastic style creating a very welcoming atmosphere. Everything was clean -...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
