We thoroughly enjoyed our four nite stay in this historic hotel in late November 2016. It is situated on the Grand Canal. We didn't pay for a view of the Grand Canal but got a room overlooking a side canal. Really cool to hear the water lapping at the sides of the building at night - very restful. The staff...

Stayed here for 3 days in 2 weeks ago. Overall the hotel was good and I would recommend staying here. We upgraded the room which gave us a side view of the canal which was ok. The only bad thing was that it was 2 single beds which you wouldn't expect from an upgraded double room. But the room was...

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend for our honeymoon. Hotel was nice and cosy it was about 20 mins walk from St Marks Square and a lot of nice bars nearby here the locals hang, just a point if you like wine, always ask in bars/cafes for the house wine it's only €1 per glass 😀...

We stayed here 2 nights. We got a suite with 2 rooms which was good with kids. But we had no view! We asked to be upgraded to a canal view room but they said they were all booked. Although it's on the grand canal, getting here is very tricky. You have to cross a couple of bridges and walk...

This was my first time my partner and I had visited Venice and we were amazed! It's such a beautiful city, and San Cassiano Ca' Favretto was a beautiful, historic hotel. The breakfast was delicious, and the location of the hotel was great. In walking distance of all the main attractions and right on the grand canal! I really worried...

Really lovely hotel with excellent service and friendly staff. Location and views from the hotel well worth going out into the decking with a glass of wine even in January. Venice is a beautiful place and getting lost down the small streets made it easy to find things not in the usual guide books.

We had a window on to the Grand Canal! We were delighted with our room especially as we realised that it would be flooded at extreme high tides. As mentioned by other Reviewers, the buffet breakfast is outstanding with a great variety of goodies to choose from. We enjoyed walking all over Venice but realised we were in the best...

My partner and I travelled to Venice from St. Moritz Switzerland. Due to the long commute and struggle to find the hotel in the dark we checked in late around 10:30pm. Upon arrival the man on reception appeared more interested in the computer screen that he was watching the football on then checking us in. He took our passports and...

The hotel is advisable and very well-located, at 5 minutes from Rialto bridge. Is a typical venezian building from another era with beautiful decoration. Great views of Grand Canal from the hall and our room. Incredible moment when I went out the building at night and stayed at the dock's hotel looking at the lights of the city and the...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
