Our room was very clean and comfortable with a very stylish en suite. We had a small balcony overlooking a picturesque canal with a right angle view towards the Grand Canal. Beds were good and the room was well equipped. The staff were most helpful....More
My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at the American Dinesen Hotel in Venice in early November, 2010, and it met (and surpassed) our every expectation. It had been recommended by a usually-demanding friend who had stayed there 2 years ago. We had a...More
Great location - close to transportation, sights, safe ATM and food. Breakfast ample, good quality of food, and varied. Helpful staff - some more helpful than others. Room small but to be expected. Bathroom unexpectedly spacious and modern. Wonderful to take water taxi to hotel...More
Location is fantastic - in the arty, museum district of dosoduro. Even if not an art buff, the gallery displays make for an interestingly and delightful walk to the hotel from the vapouretta stop, which is only a few minutes walk away.

The hotel is located on a small side canal that runs between Zattere and the Grand Canal, in the quiet and charming Dorsoduro section. It is a few minutes walk from the Accademia vaporetto stop and the Accademia bridge, making it very accessible for anywhere...More

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob
in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

As others before me have stated there are no cars in Venice. See Tricia H's response for excellent car parking arrangements. The hotel does have a private water taxi dock. The nearest Vaperetto (Venice's version of a public bus) is at the Academia Bridge. Then you will have to walk past the Academia turn left for about a block, cross over a foot bridge, turn right and the hotel is just beyond a cafe. Ciao!
