Really nice hotel close to Sct. Mark, very cosy yard, good breakfast buffet, very nice staff. Our room was quite small, but nice. There are bigger rooms at the hotel, but this was fine. We would choose the same hotel again!

Loved our visit, easy check in, lovely room w/a canal view and easy access to local public transportation (gondolas, commercial boast) and easy walking to cool Rialto Market, Grand Canal, and vessels to visit other islands. Garden breakfast was substantial, with variety and color, very helpful staff. I can't imagine a lovelier , better situated, friendly place to enjoyer first...

Hotel Le Isole was the most expensive hotel we had in all Italy, but if you're going to be in Venice you really have to be central. Its very comfortable in a fantastic location - step outside and you're right on a canal, complete with gondole gliding by, sometimes with a singer- so you start the day on a sweet...

Small hotel with a big heart. Situated by a quiet canal only open to gondolas yet within five minutes you are in the middle of St Marks square. Two minute walk to water busses/taxis.. Staff couldn't be nicer. Rooms lovely with s super bathroom. Small bar with lovely seating in a small courtyard.

We couldn't be happier with Hotel Le Isole. It is close to the vaporetto line and many osterias, gelaterias, and restaurants. The hotel makes a perfect base to begin sightseeing in Venice. Our room was fairly large compared to Europe standards and there was a coffeemaker in the room which was a plus. The hotel was quiet and clean and...

Love this little gem tucked in a corner of Campo Provolo. Our room is charming and it has a good sized bathroom. Free breakfast and mini bar in room is stocked with juice, sodas, beer, and bottled water (best of all, it is all free). Oh, and free cookies and coffee every afternoon! The staff are very helpful and always...

On Venice island the hotels are quite expensive - but Le Isole was bit cheaper then the others while being close to San Marco Square. So first good thing - decent price in Venice. Secondly the people in the hotel were very friendly and nice - that was great to experience. Breakfast was tasty (though not overly wide variety) and...

This is a lovely simple hotel in the heart of Venice. Very quiet, lovely service, excellent breakfast, rooms are small but good. Highly recommended. All the sights of Venice are in easy reach plus many good restaurants.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
