Hotel Le Isole was a quiet oasis amid the noise and activity of Venice. It was conveniently located just off the Grand Canal near San Marco piazza and was blessedly peaceful. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was delicious and everyone was very helpful and attentive. Great choice.

We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Le Isole while in Venice and found it to be charming, quiet, and beautiful. The staff were so very helpful and the furnishings were lovely. The breakfast was simply wonderful and we would definitely return here again.

Excellent small hotel with a great location at the heart of Venice. Staff are friendly. The court yard is a nice space. Good breakfast is included with attentive service. Mini bar is free to use and topped up every other day. 24 hour reception is helpful. Would recommend and stay again.

Really nice hotel close to Sct. Mark, very cosy yard, good breakfast buffet, very nice staff. Our room was quite small, but nice. There are bigger rooms at the hotel, but this was fine. We would choose the same hotel again!

Hotel Le Isole was the most expensive hotel we had in all Italy, but if you're going to be in Venice you really have to be central. Its very comfortable in a fantastic location - step outside and you're right on a canal, complete with gondole gliding by, sometimes with a singer- so you start the day on a sweet...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
