We stayed at Hotel Le Isole for two nights and couldn't have been more happy with this hotel. The location was great next to San Marco Square and easy enough to get to from the water bus with very minimal dragging of suitcases. The staff...More

Rooms are great. Service is friendly and fantastic. Breakfast was wonderful. Close to St Mark's square (5 minutes at most), yet very quiet - feels very out of the way despite being in the middle of everything. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
Great location and easy access from the water transportation stops by St Mark's square.
Good variety of local restaurants but always worth exploring beyond the usual tourist areas.
Staff were very friendly and helpful - hotel is clean and modern but don't expect a view...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
For the canal taxi to the airport, it was €120 for all that you can fit on the boat. As for restaurants, we ate at a small cafe called Osteria Calle 21. Few minutes walk from the hotel towards St. Mark’s Square. Food was... More
For the canal taxi to the airport, it was €120 for all that you can fit on the boat. As for restaurants, we ate at a small cafe called Osteria Calle 21. Few minutes walk from the hotel towards St. Mark’s Square. Food was very good. However, there as a restaurant just across the canal from the hotel called Trattoria Alla Rivetta we wanted to try but there was a constant line of people all night waiting to be seated. Maybe on our next visit.
