Centrally located off San Marco Square, Venice. Our room didn't have a view, but was very near the church, where the fabulous bells sounded each morning. The room was adequate, with a very comfortable bed and quiet, unless the window was open to enjoy the bells! Bathroom newly renovated. Breakfast was basic.

Location - Good location Firstly we was taken to the back of the hotel in alley to get to the room so not really in the hotel, and the rooms were dingy and dirty, room was not as described, and the bathroom smelt of sewage several times in the day, there was no safe in the room as advertised, and...

Have stayed at this hotel before, I returned again with my family primarily for the great location and previous experience which to be fair was clean & a reasonable hotel. Unfortunately the hotel has recently changed management/ownership and standards have significantly dropped. The only thing that I can say is still as good, is the location (2 minutes from St...

The location of this hotel is fantastic, just a few minutes walk to San Marco square. The room though was enormously small and old. The cleanliness is not what you could expect. Breakfast super poor. The staff was very friendly.

This was our second stay here and we found it just as pleasant this time as the last. The room is comfortable, with a modern bathroom. The location is convenient, and we were able to walk to many places we wanted to see. You can get here from St. Marks Square without going over any bridges, which is a plus...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with our husband. The hotel was decent, breakfast was okay, but would regret if paid extra if not already included in the room rate. The young gentleman on the front desk (his name was staring with D) made our trip wonderful with his suggestions about Venice. Special thanks to him.

Checked in for 1 night before our cruise. We got a triple room for the two of us. Overall the room was nothing to get excited about. Pretty stark - but quiet and served its purpose. My only complaint was the customer service at the front desk. It seemed like anything I did (or asked for) was a complete bother....

Please note: this is Venice - in terms of accommodation, you do get what you pay for. In the case of Hotel San Zulian, you really do get value for money. We stayed for 2 nights and were given a really spacious 3rd floor room with adequate views over the rooftops of Venice. Fridge, air con and safe in room...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
