Our experience with this hotel was not positive. It is an easy walk from plaza Roma which is the end point from the people mover from the cruise ship dock and across the canal. from the train station , it looks quaint and the rooms are small and cozy. Breakfast is included. But there is no airconditioning, ( at least...

We had our first trip to Venice with some old friends who had been a few times and stayed here before. Location, Situation and Position have to be the primary attraction it's just so well situated. We had a private water taxi transfer from the airport and its almost movie like to arrive outside your hotel in this style. The...

On arrival the receptionist was not very friendly, he was only there for our first night. Following that staff members were helpful and polite. Our room over looked the Grand Canal, which was amazing but noisy. However the room itself was small and lacked space for clothes. The room was clean as was the hotel. The breakfast was good, with...

Stayed in this hotel in March. Its location was perfect, just opposite is the bus stop & train station. The rooms are comfortable, and clean but a little outdated. The staff are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to assist you. Everything is within walking distance, and the people are extremely friendly. Venice is quite expensive, when...

We come to Venice for our anniversary. Our first night at the hotel is not very enjoyable. Reception staff are not friendly at all. Perfect weekend, from us arriving by water taxi at the private landing to leaving by bus 3 days later. Wonderful position, just a pleasant 25 mins walk to St Marks Square. Great Italian welcome and hospitality. We had a courtyard room, traditional Italian style but modern and clean and very quiet. Good efficient breakfast service to set us up fr...

Lovely hotel in a perfect location. The train and bus stations are close by, only a few minutes walk away which is great for when you arrive. Main attractions are within walking distance about 30 mins to St Mark's Square. Our bedrooms were not overlooking the canal but we were happy with the rooms. The rooms were not particularly spacious...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
