oh, this was nice.
Venice is probably the biggest tourist town on the planet, and it would be very easy for a hotel here to make a good living without being particularly high quality. Happily, this hotel doesn't fall into that trap. It's very pretty,...More
The hotel is beautiful, there are silk walls and bedclothes. Breakfast was delicious. The location is excellent because it is right next to the train station and bus stop. The staff were very friendly, a lovely lady named Jessica gave us a very good price...More
We Loved Venice.
This hotel is very close to the train station... actually it's literally across the canal from it. That said, it is a bit of a hike to get to the major tourist sites, but nevertheless it's a good walking city anyways.
I bought the romance package and really enjoyed it. The location is fantastic as you can walk there from the car park and train station. Very convenient to go anywhere we bought the 24 hours pass for the ferry and it's a great way to...More
very nice hotel, excellent location and very spacious and perfect cleaned rooms
we were happy for the VERY kind and nice service, the reception staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

I am not sure how far the Hotel Carlton is from the airport, but by bus, the airport is about 10 minutes. The bus stop is just few yards from the hotel. Very easy. There is no trick, and the bus is easy, but make sure to double check to see that you are on the right bus. The bus tickets are quite inexpensive and have luggage racks. Sorry I can't remember the exact price per ticket.
No need to book trips. You can get around easy on foot, or water bus. The city is not big, but it is exciting. Go in the Doge's Palace in St Marks Square. Not expensive. Fantastic ceilings, great armoury displays. You get to... More
No need to book trips. You can get around easy on foot, or water bus. The city is not big, but it is exciting. Go in the Doge's Palace in St Marks Square. Not expensive. Fantastic ceilings, great armoury displays. You get to walk over the Bridge of Sighs on the inside on your way to walking round the prison. A good half day, well spent.
