My wife and I arrived in Venice early on Sept 8 2014 and took the bus to Piazza Roma. A very short walk through a safe area brought us to the Hotel. The staff was very welcoming and as it was early our room had not yet been vacated. They showed us two other rooms that were available, but we...

This was the best hotel we stayed in while we were in Italy. The room and bathroom were very clean, staff friendly and complimentary breakfast was exceptional offering both hot and cold choices. We arrived in Venice via train and this was a short walk from the train station - note that there is a bridge with stairs that you...

Great location, lovely garden at the back. Few mosquitoes around when we arrived, however disappeared when we used the plug-in, provided by the hotel. Mini-bar fridge in room and in-room safe. We asked for a kettle, which was delivered to our room. Room and bathroom clean and good size. Breakfast was great and all the staff were very helpful and...

Hotel Olimpia is located adjacent to Piazzale Roma. Perfect for our one night stay when we disembarked our cruise to get to Marco Polo airport the next morning. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and gracious. Our room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and beautifully adorned. Super breakfast, many choices. The only drawback is the lack of an elevator to...

This hotel has lots of old world charm. Great place for transports, or exploring all the little alleys that make Venice so special. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and comfortable for two.

We stayed there 2 nights prior to a cruise. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional. The location was a short walk to a vaporetto stop as well as the People Mover for the cruise port, but was not noisy. The room was nice and recently remodeled. The included-breakfast was very good.

We chose this hotel because of its location. It is very close to the Cruise terminal, bus station, people mover and the water bus stop.....all within a few hundred meters. Our standard room was on the small side but had an excellent modern sparkly clean bathroom. The staff were very helpful and included in the price was a water taxi...

Hotel is situated close to the Piazzale Roma and can, in fact, be seen from the Bus Station. Although about a 30 minutes casual walk to St Marks Square it is very convenient and easy when you arrive and also to find your way back to the Hotel after exploring around since there are plenty of signs throughout Venice directing...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
