Rooms were clean, but a little run down. Great location, a 5 mn walk from the train station, which was easy to cart our luggage to. No complaints about the service, just nothing exceptional. Very professional, but not personable. Breakfast was tasty. If your looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay this is it.

Great location just couple blocks away from the st. Lucia railway station, water buses and gondola rides and steps away from the big canal. The room was spacious and clean and the reception staff was helpful. The decoration is dated and a couple things need a fresh up. Breakfast was standard. We were rushed to leave the room even when...

We stayed for one night in Venice, in a quadruple room. The main reason for us to choose this hotel was the location and that a quadruple room was available. It did just that, nothing more. It is about 600m from the Venezia St Lucia train station which is really convenient as we had 2 big luggage and 2 kids...

The beds are comfy albeit two singles pushed together, the staff were friendly, the breakfast sufficient. Good location and quiet. Just a disappointment that the 4star classification was more like 2/3. This wasn't a big problem, but if you pay for 4* you expect 4*. Had a good time though, wasn't a major downside.

After a long flight from the United States and a very easy walk from the water taxi drop off, we found a little gem in the Amadeus Hotel. The desk staff spoke english and were very friendly and accomodating. They stored our luggage until the room was ready, gave us maps and some advicce on the area. It is an...

We booked this hotel in Venice for 2 nights. We were joining a HAL cruise to Istanbul and wanted time before going to visit Venice itself. We chose it as it is fairly close to the railstation where we arrived with our luggage. The hotel is in a busy street, but we did not notice the noise in our bedrooms....

We stayed 1 night before we went on our cruise around the Greek Islands and came back for another two night, we found it very Italian, colourful and comfortable. Close to train station and fairies to take u to other islands. Breakfast was nice. Close to lots of restaurants and shops. Great stay.

Great location, near some very nice bars! The hotel itself was pretty much exactly what the other reviews say - rooms are a little tired but still pleasant and the staff are friendly enough, the breakfast was good. There was aslight problem with the lock on our room - which repeatedly malfunctioned.

Superb Location - 2 minutes walking from the Venezia St Lucia rail station (which is a boon if you are dragging luggage and kids), easy walking distance from all major attractions (Rialto, St Marks, shopping areas). Hotel is old, rooms and bathrooms are very clean and tidy, though in need of refurbishment. Staff is helpful.

The location was great and very easy to find. We' were greeted by friendly staff and we're given a quiet room at the back. The view was nothing great. Not four star but clean and tidy. The garden certainly was a pleasant retreat from the crowds. Mosquitos can be a problem.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
