I can hardly find the right words to describe this unique hotel . It is simply the best that u could ever dream of in Venice . The elegance is overwhelming as well as the perfect kindness of their staff. It's expensive I know but if u could go there even for just one night you will keep that experience...

We were fortunate enough to stay in one of the suites for a couple of nights. Everything about this hotel is incredible. The rooms, service, food, ambience, decoration. Pure luxury and opulence. Nicest place I've ever stayed in a wonderful city. Highly recommended.

The Gritti Palace provides a discreet and comfortable hideaway right in the centre of the San Marco area. It's location behind the luxury stores right on the Grand Canal is hard to beat. Slipping into the hotel through the unassuming side door provides escape into an immediate sanctuary from the crowds nearby at Piazza San Marco. Service is efficient and...

Although we stayed elsewhere on the island, the Longhi Bar and the Riva patio lounge are musts for any visitor to Venice. Excellent service, signature cocktails, comfortable old world charm and ambience coupled with unbelievable waterfront views of gondola / water taxi " traffic" and historic treasures making for a great place to relax and unwind. We look forward to...

We arrived at the hotel's private berth and from then on experienced a pretty much faultless stay. Our room was great, comfortable bed, wonderful old furniture and art with a luxury bathroom and great amenities. Only downside was that there was no iron and ironing board or TCMF - apparently neither is allowed in old buildings in Venice due to...

Stayed at the Gritti Palace for my wife's birthday in October and from the minute we arrived to the minute we departed we were treated so well. We were upgraded to a suite which was stunning, breakfast on the terrace was wonderful way to start the day and a night cap overlooking the Grand Canal the only way to finish...

Venice has many Palaces and an even larger number of hotels that pretend to be Palaces. We have tried many of them and the Gritti always holds a particular place in our heart as it excels in all dimensions. Superb location on the Grand Canal, very close to the Academia bridge, La Fenice and San Marco, fabulous views from its...

Gritti Palace is a beautiful hotel in a great location on the grand canal. Service is impeccable. Hotel is a beautiful old building that has been restored and updated with all the modern comforts but maintains its historical perspective. The restaurant outside on the grand canal has beautiful views and good food and service. Hotel is less than a ten...

Dear Guest, We are grateful for your appreciation of the restoration’s outcome of our unique and timeless Venetian Nobile Palace, where its original atmosphere was very well retained, despite being it contemporarily equipped with up-to-date facilities for our guests’ comfort. We are also delighted by your praises related to the perfect cleanliness and excellent service, which together with the accorded...

What a wonderful place filled with charm and luxury! The staff is wonderful and treated us like royalty. We had a two bedroom suite with gorgeous views of Venice. It had so much old world charm from the keys to the rooms themselves.

The Gritti Palace has every right to call themselves the best hotel in Venice. The arrival at the Gritti via motor boat directly to their private dock was very exciting! Unbeatable location, great knowledgable staff, beautiful rooms. Our room had a great view of the grand canal. It was spacious, beautifully decorated, and spotless clean. The bed was very comfortable...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
