I have good things to say about my 8-night stay at Saturnia earlier this month, during Carnevale. The hotel is an easy walk to St. Mark's square, an easy walk to the Giglio waterbus dock, quite close to La Fenice opera house, etc. If you like high-end shopping, just steps out the front door you'll find plenty, the likes of...

I had bought a group of photographers to Venice during the very hectic time of Carnevale. Throughout the entire booking process and stay everyone at the Hotel was friendly, helpful, accommodating and very professional. Having been in Venice several times prior it was wonderful to have so many people willing to help make our stay a relaxed and extremely comfortable...

Great place to be. Very friendly staff, well located hotel, near most attractions and just behind Teatro La Fenice. Well isolated room and very comfortable bed. Having a drink at the bar in the evening is very relaxing with awesome music.

This hotel coped with our arriving soaked through after difficulties with transport. They arrange a meal, at 22.45, just as the restaurant was closing. We found the level of service outstanding throughout and our week passed extremely pleasantly in our wonderful room. We slept very well and enjoyed wandering the alleyways of Venice at the start of Carnevale. Then, when...

Superb three day stay, perfect location, outstanding breakfast. Within a few minutes from St Marco. Access via Vaporetto from Marco Polo airport is simple & original, though for 120€ you can take one of the iconic water taxis directly to the hotel's private berth...

The Saturnia hotel was excellent, well positioned just a five minute walk from st Marks square. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is well located to San Marco. More importantly was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The rooms were generous and well appointed. The breakfasts were generous and something was available for all tastes.

From the moment weentered the hotel we felt special. The staff are wonderful! Friendly, warm and genuinely nice. We couldn't have wished for a better hotel. The hotel restaurant La Caravella was superb and the waiters attentive and with humour. The risotto with Lobster sauce was heaven on a plate :) Overall, I highly reccomend this hotel for price, comfort,...

Arriving in Venice my Girlfriend and I were already stunned by the beauty of the city, however getting to the hotel, which is extremely easy to find, we found ourselves in this incredible Venetian hotel, modern facilities, whilst keeping all of its 100 year traditional charm. Greeted by lovely bilingual staff, we were in our room with no troubles at...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“Was unsure about lack of tea & coffee facility in room but central are with sofas & self serve worked very well & socialising with other guests added to friendly feel. Great idea. Could fault our beautiful junior suite room in overlooking the canal in any way at all.”
