Fantastic location, Basic hotel but great price. Room smelt a bit fusty, but it was clean. Continental breakfast was fine, had the usual meats, cheese and fruit. Staff helpful. Would stay there again.

Clean, functional hotel. Reasonable choice for breakfast. Comments overheard from other guests confirmed that room sizes are on the small side. We were quite happy with this, as we out soon after breakfast, back late afternoon for a shower and then off out for dinner. Wifi available in reception area only. Lots of stairs and confirm, no lift. The waitress...

Hotel in great location. Rooms basic but clean. Not the biggest but your only there to shower and sleep. Breakfast is fine, rolls, cheese, ham, cereals and yogurt, cakes are tasty. All help yourself style. I would go back to this hotel as it was easy and relaxed. But if you want luxury pay more elsewhere.

With no lift, this hotel would not be suitable for guests with mobility issues, but in all other respects it was fine for us, a couple in our late sixties. The room and en-suite on the 1st floor were not of generous proportions, but were nonetheless adequate and impeccably clean. The breakfasts were "continental" but with a generous choice of...

We stayed 3 nights in January and the location was really great. The staff were friendly and helpful (except for the waitress at breakfast who couldn't have chucked the plates and cutlery about louder if she tried). We were disappointed at the size of the room which felt like a royal broom closet; we couldn't even sit faving forwards on...

Well the whole experience was okey. The things we have liked: - The breakfast ( As long as everything is expensive in Venise) - The localisation which is pretty cool The things we did not like: - The personal was okey, we had to ask for the way to our room. As soon as we arrived, any information had been...

The hotel was in good location between Rialto and St Mark's Square. While the bedroom was comfortable (fragranced!), breakfast was okay and staff was friendly but the TV channels could not be changed, safety box in the room wasn't working properly and wifi could only be accessed in the lounge area. To make matters worse, I was bitten by mosquito...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
