I stayed at this hotel in October 2016 for three nights and found it very good. It was close to the train station (10 mins walk at most) and close to good food outlets and vaporetto stops. The room was well furnished and large and the hotel spotlessly clean. Staff were obliging and helpful. The single occupant bathroom was on...

I am one of those few persons who dare to travel to Venice with no accommodation, it was extremely hard to find one but luckily I found Hotel Santa Lucia and fortunately they had a free room with a shared bathroom (they offer also ensuite), and it was an amazing stay!! Now talking about the hotel itself, it is rated...

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Santa Lucia during a weekend visit to Venice. I cannot say enough good things about the hotel. The location was perfect, only a five-minute walk from the Venezia Santa Lucia train station. Our room was lovely, clean and roomy. Our room had a sink only, so we used the clean hallway bathroom, which...

The staff was always there for you and very friendly. The rooms are nice and clean. In the shower there is always warm water, in the sink from time to time. The hotel even has its own small garden with tables and chairs.

My home away from home in Venize. A family run hotel. I have stayed here, ones a year, for the last ten years. It is quiet and peaceful spot in a busy town. The hotel has been upgraded over the years and have aircondition in all the rooms.

Stayed here two nights. Close to train station, but in a great, quiet location down side street. Modest accomodations, but has everything you need for a great price. Amy at front desk was friendly; breakfast staff polite and pleasant. I'd stay here again.

Very easy to get to from station, cheerful, helpful staff, comfy room, perfect for two friends. Nice clean bathroom, (We didn't miss a bidet. One smoker appreciated immediate access to private garden from our room. Extra pillow given, no probs. Wish Italy had plump pillows - we found those horrid flat ones everywhere! We'd stay here again!

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Venice. We had a bit of trouble finding it at first because the street Calle de la Misericordia was quite long. This place is super close to the train station, but you have to take a little alley way to get there. There is a tiled floor sign at the entrance of...

We arrived by train early and made arrangements for an early check in. The Hotel Santa Lucia was ready for us and staff was friendly. It is just a short walk from the train station which is very nice because I witnessed many other travelers having to negotiate numerous bridges with luggage that we didn't have to. it's a nice...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
