Stayed in this Hotel with my family for the second year. Excellent Hotel with excellent location near Rialto Bridge and still maintained the quality as last year! Service matches to 3 star Hotel, but hotel is 2-star.

We loved Hotel Serenissima. The location was perfect for visiting San Marco and Rialto areas. The breakfast was excellent. There is no elevator, so we were lucky to be on the 2nd floor. There are 4 floors in this hotel, so you might be walking up a bit! The room was very small. If you were standing at the foot...

Its all about location, this hotel is in the middle of it all, if u are looking for a base to explore venice, look no further. Room is good, a bed for our child as requested. Sleeping well with airco. Even though there are venice sounds drifting up (love it!) once you close the windows no sounds can be heard....

Hotel location is brilliant, easy walk from the water bus terminal and easy into the main squares. We only used the water bus to get to and from the island as you can walk everywhere easily. GPS/Google Maps are useless due to the buildings being tall and so close to each other but getting lost is half the fun! Breakfast...

Loved our one night stay here! The receptionist was friendly and helpful and made sure we had assistance getting our bags up the stairs (no lift). Our room was quaint, hand painted furniture and a teeny TV with mainly Italian channels. We had a bath with a shower nozzle but no high-stand so we had baths instead. We were happy...

Just returned from a weekend stay. Agree with other comments regarding the shower pressure on the top floor, it is terrible if we had been staying longer we would have requested a different room. Bathrooms could do with an update as the shower cubicle was quite basic and the glass screen was in need of a good clean. Overall a...

This little hotel tucked away on Calle Goldoni has several things in its favor. The location could be one plus, if you desire a hotel very close to San Marco. The price is right for a budget hotel. The staff is friendly, multilingual, and professional. The breakfast is heartier than most Italian hotels--great coffee, served with warm milk. The hotel...

Our family stayed in two rooms at this charming hotel. Location is excellent - close to San Marco square and the Rialto bridge. Staff was very friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, albeit a little small. Quiet street; we felt very safe walking in the area late at night. We enjoyed breakfast each morning. No...

Perfect location mid-way between San Marco Square & Rialto Bridge, both of which are a short easy walk away. The staff were so friendly, helpful & welcoming. The hotel is small & charming. Rooms are upstairs (no elevators) & are spotlessly clean & tidy. Plenty of hot water, free WiFi & very small TV, mostly Italian + CNN & BBC...

I feel like cutting and pasting the review by AprileM2015. I have awarded it top stars, because the balance of facilities, location etc. is excellent and I think the overall rating deserves it. The staff were absolutely excellent. Knowledgeable, charming, with-it, the best. The location is very good. The number 2 ship comes directly to their stop, Rialto, and it...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
