Stayed here for a few nights whilst visiting Venice on a weekend city break. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, only a minutes walk from the water taxi stop (Accademia) and 20 minute walk from the bus/train station. Room was a good size and breakfast buffet was adequate. Only slight negative was the bar was not open at... More

The hotel is even better than was expected! Located just in a minute walk from Ponte dell'Accademia, it can be easily reached by vaporetto from any point of Venice. A beautiful entry area with a large court makes your stay there even more comfortable. Friendly, helpful and supporting staff. Nice breakfast with delicious bakery nice choice of fruits, etc. The... We loved the Dorsoduro neighbourhood, it was walking distance to most things we wanted to see. Quiet, beautiful neighbourhood, with many small shops and restaurants. Wonderful to walk around night or day. Hotel Bel Arti is in need of renovations. Old plumbing, a tub that does not drain, a shower apparatus that does not work, A/C that can only be... More

We was moved to this hotel after being told hotel Belle Époque had a aircon problem, after a 30 minute walk to this hotel is was a pleasant surprise to find it located in a beautiful and quiet area. The garden in front of the hotel is a great place to sit and relax. The rooms layout is great and... More

This is our second stay at the Belli Arti and love the location. The rooms are an adequate size and very clean. Breakfast has a large variety of foods to choose from. It is an easy walk to the Accademia Bridge and vaporetto stop. The walk to Sam Marco Square takes 20-30 minutes through wonderful streets. There is a grocery... More

Excellent location in charming quiet area yet steps from vapretto stop at Academia and from the water transport directly to airport and cruise terminal. Knowledgable staff with local information. Beautiful courtyard where very good breakfast can be enjoyed. And drinks from the bar. Breakfast staff very courteous and efficient.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Belle Arti and for the price, I was impressed (we paid about £80 per night). The location was great in Dorsoduro - a more cultural area compared to the touristy San Marco. Vaparetto stop at the end of road which was handy and right around the corner from the beautiful Academia bridge over the... More

We booked a room for 5 people. It was prepared for two people. The reception staff were unhelpful, rude and unapologetic. Had to get quite assertive to get them to sort things out. the following morning the electricity failed in our room. The organisation of breakfast was quite chaotic and there were no trays.

Stayed here last week of July. I do not recommend you stay here. Place is dark, old and not kept up. The carpet is not only old, it's filthy. This place is plain creepy. Do yourself a favor and don't ruin your Venice vacation by staying here.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
