A five minute walk to San Marco makes for a great location.the room was dark but nice but the tiny bathroom was amazing at any price, let alone these prices so watch out! Breakfast was nothing special and some of the staff were nicer than others. Desk staff was fine.

We were only staying one night and luckily were upgraded at no extra cost to a suite complete with living room and outside terrace. It was lovely and so convenient--just down a small street from the Grand Canal, very close to St. Mark's.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Campiello recently for our honeymoon in the top floor suite. The proximity of the hotel to the airport water taxi stop and St. Marks Square are both big pluses. The room was clean and the staff at the front desk were polite, helpful, and all spoke fluent english. We would definately consider staying there...

The best location, close to Piazza San Marco and Palazzo Ducale, good average and clean room. Reception helpful with directions, the room looks like one of the palazzos close by... The hotel is hard to find so when you book ask for a proper map as we were lost at the edge or the grand canal when luckily we found...

First, be carefull looking at the photos of the room in this hotel. They have something else - much MORE interesting for you. My friend and I DID NOT expect that AT ALL!!! When we arrived in the hotel, we were asked a strange question at the reception like "Are there expecting more friends with you for the night?" -...

We stayed in the Junior Suite for four nights and were presently surprised as we had been warned that hotel rooms in Venice were cramped and very hot in the high summer. Not only did we have plenty of space, but the two air conditioning units were so efficient that we only turned them on for half an hour every...

Four of us stayed in the quad room. What an experience! The room is essentially a suite on the top floor with access to a great private rooftop terrace. Room also has a nice little sitting area. I have never stayed in a room that had so much old-world charm. Air conditioning was great and room had many comfortable blankets....

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
