Nikos checked us in for our multi-night stay. It was great to meet Niko, who was very responsive several times prior to my arrival. Our room was located on the top floor, which was a few flight of steps. The room was basic, worn, and with squeaky floors. The best part of this hotel is location - easy to reach...

This place was great. Small and family owned. We got our room upgraded as soon as we arrived and they accommodated our late arrival. They were very helpful and the location of the hotel was great, only a short walk to anywhere you want to go! Would definitely stay again.

Obviously it's not a 5star hotel but this place is perfect if you want a comfortable bed to spend the night and you can also count on kind staff that's always ready to give you information and attend to anything you need. Location is terrific. Just to get there from the train station that's necessary to get a transport (vaporeto...

I travelled to Venice alone and had booked myself a single room. When I arrived I was informed the single occupancy room wasn't in working order, I was placed into a double room for the first of my 4 nights on the ground floor. The room was clean and cool which in July is a rarity. The bed was a...

Stayed with my wife during a long weekend celebrating my birthday, the hotel location is exceptional, at one of the canals that directly linked to the grand canal close to Sant Marco, Sant Marco itself is 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel, the hotel price is good and value for money is acceptable, the absolute experience is our room,...

The hotel is very central , 5 min from San Marco . The rooms are big and a little cold. The is no tv in the room, the wifi works only in the lobby. The breakfast is simple, but sufficient, the coffee is weak, for away from an italian espresso. The host is very nice.

Excellent location close to San Marco and the water taxi terminals as well as numerous restaurants. Room was comfortable and clean and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but nice to start the day. Would stay here again for sure.

Friendly staff who were very helpful throughout our two night stay. Good sized room, top floor - and the stairs are steep. Not a problem except a bit of work to haul the luggage up and down on arrival and when we checked out. Bed in the en suite room was a bit too firm for me but fine for...

This little gem is 2 minutes from St Zaccaria Vaporetto stop, a bridge hop away from San Marco square, about 10 minutes' walk from Rialto, is clean and tidy and has a bunch of lovely and extremely helpful people at your service 24/7, what more could you demand of a budget accommodation in prime location?! Because we don't usually spend...

The hotel is a stone's throw from the water bus terminal and easy to find. I was given a lovely greeting by Tessa, one of the family and shown to a large quiet ground floor room with a great private bathroom. All spotless clean. Breakfast was plentiful. I felt totally secure. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone on...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
