We stayed here before embarking on a 7 night cruise as we wanted to experience Venice for a day beforehand. I chose this hotel knowing that we had little time to spend and wanted to be close to the St. Mark's area as that is where we planned be for the time. It was perfect for this and the hotel...

Great location helps make the Hotel Flora a great destination. Within 10 mins walking distance to San Marco and a Vaporetto stop. Great nearby restaurants and a super helpful and friendly staff made all the difference. Rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate (we had a standard double room). The breakfast buffet was outstanding and could...

Charming hotel very close to San Marco and Vaporetto Station. Furnishing is in the antique style, excellent fresh and crisp bedlinen. As expected for Venice, room and bathroom were on the small size, but we really enjoyed our 2 nights stay in this very cosy hotel. Bed very comfortable and breakfast in the lovely courtyard a real treat. Choice on...

How do write a review on a hotel that has a heart and soul ? We have stayed in many beautiful expensive and luxurious hotels but sometimes you find a special place where you are treated like family .Hotel Flora has something magical about it. It's not just the rooms ,which are very comfortable,it's not the breakfast which is tasty,...

Just got back from 5 nights in the Hotel Flora, the hotel is in a superb location literally minutes from Piazza San Marco just off the main super expensive shopping street of Calle Larga. The decor is very in keeping with traditional styles with wall hangings and antiques all over the place, the rooms also reflect this as well, they...

We had the family room with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The location is fabulous and the breakfast was the shining star. They really go out of their way to provide an excellent spread of fresh and baked goods. We loved sitting in the courtyard in the morning, such a wonderful way to start the day in Venice

We arrived about 10am after disembarking our cruise ship. We knew that checkin wasn't until mid afternoon. The staff were very welcoming and we were able to leave our luggage. We were also offered tea, coffee and breakfast which was lovely, although we just had tea and coffee. We then explored Venice and arrived back at the hotel late afternoon....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
