The hotel is in a very quiet zone (Dorsoduro) There's no noise and walking to St. Mark sq. is around 30 minutes (my wide and I like to walk so that's no problem). The staff nice (however they could be better). The room very clean and comfortable. The breakfast acceptable, breads, hams, yogurts, juices.

We visited Venice in September and decided to choose Hotel Messner on a quiet Canal. The rooms have good beds and airco. Seperate private badroom. Shower is good but small and not for fat people. The rooms are cleaned every day and also you get fresh towels Nice breakfast, good coffee and a lot of sweets Good food and wine...

Well, where should I start. First of all, the location was good and with a vaporetto ticket you can do everything in Venice. When we arrived the reception staff was very ignorant. No costumer service in terms of helping with the luggage. The receptionist told us that the room will be not ready before 3 pm, which was no problem...

The employees seem to hate their jobs. Everything is too much trouble. You can see the negativity in the face of all of them. Too much screaming and cursing in front of the guests. Just avoid this place.

Location is really great but it is 200 yards down the street from the reception. the rooms were basic at best. We had a double and a family room. All double beds were two beds put together with ex-prison mattresses. Lucky I fit the 100+kg frame that had spent the last ten years sleeping on my mattress others in our...

Hotel location is great to visit Venice. We had room n10 nicely decorated and big enough for the area. Bathroom was very small and dated. Customers are not looked after in the restaurant or at breakfast. We want to eat outside! Clean those tables and refill breakfast buffet ! This could do far better under proper management.

We have just spent three nights in a family room 42, two adults and two children. Room was clean but the bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke. The shower is small. We got the cleaner to spray air freshener. The Internet in the room does not work. Breakfast is good with fresh croissants and bread. The hotel is walking distance from...

Many hotels in Venice are some distance away from the water bus routes and getting to them with heavy baggage can be quite a challenge. Some are accessible by water taxi, but that mode can be quite expensive. Also, many smaller hotels are located on very narrow streets. Hotel Messner does not have those disadvantages. It is 300 m from...

We booked this hotel through Booking.com after viewing pictures of their rooms. The room we got was unlike any we saw on line. It was about 7ft by 11 ft. When beds were put together only one person could step out of bed. We complained immediately, but they insisted they were full and would check tomorrow. They said that twice,...

Me and my family stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It was a very pleasant stay and the house keeping department did a perfect job in keeping my room very clean . Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
