Hotel Paganelli is a wonderful small hotel conveniently located right across from the San Zaccaria water taxi station. I have stayed at this lovely little hotel several times in the distant past, and I am happy to report that although the years have passed, the...More
You can not beat the location of this hotel and price. Breakfast was very underwhelming. The rooftop was amazing and there was a lot of character and charm. Water taxi station right in front of hotel. I would stay again!
Having come from the airport by the Vaporetti, we docked at a small water stop in front of the hotel. The hotel overlooked St. Marks basin with fantastic views, and about 5 minutes walk, if that , to St. Marks square , the Bascilica &...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Breakfast included is really good. clean small rooms. the courtyard view is into a small courtyard. any view other than that is good but why would you be in the room? the restaurants close early but the hotel desk person can tell you where there are restaurants open late very close to the hotel. only about 3 English speaking channels on tv. news.... Venice is not about your room.
