Great spot! We were close to everything. We walked to everything and even stopped by our hotel in between cause it was in such a great spot. The staff was friendly and helpful with our questions. Our bed was the best one out of our 10 day trip through Europe, so we were happy when we laid down! Bathroom was...

We loved this hotel. Was there with 3 friends. We had the most beautiful balcony overlooking a courtyard and rooftops. They welcomed us at the desk like we were long lost friends. They provided alcohol samples in the room. Strong stuff but a nice touch. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough. Room decor was fine. Quiet rooms for...

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. It is centrally located, a couple of minutes walk from St Marks Square, and right by one of the stops for the No 1 vaporetto. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a double room which was small but adequate. It did have a lovely rain shower. Couple of negatives about the room...

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Location is the best. The hotel is located just in front of the the San Zaccaria/ san Marco vaporetto. So when you arrive you dont have to walk with your lugguages or cross thousands bridges. It is also in walking distance to all sightseeings in the Venice. San Marco is steps away... Rooms...

This hotel is in a great location mins from the water bus station. We arrived on Friday night quite late & were warmly welcomed at the reception. We were located in the annex which is up a lane to the side of the hotel. Our room was directly above a bar with very loud music, on most nights. (8 Euros...

Venice is a very enchanting place as we all know!!! We stayed at the best room of the hotel, the view as incredible but the room was old. If you are looking for a venetian experience you probably will like. Breakfast was very basic and in another hotel building close by. Location is awesome!

This hotel was an excellent choice, its location is just perfect, it is clean, we had a lovely lagoon view, a delicious breakfast - highly recommended! It is very near to Ponte Dei Sospiri. The vaporetto from Piazzale Roma stops almost in front of the hotel.

By far, the best thing about Hotel Paganelli is its location. It was incredibly easy to get to the hotel from Marco Polo Airport. You take the blue line Alilaguna from the airport to San Zacharia and the hotel is literally in front of you when you get off the dock. This costs €27 for a return journey. The hotel...

We stayed in this hotel during carnevale and it was absolutely perfect! Position is one of the best on the island and all staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Best part of the hotel is the killer rooftop terrace! Stunning view of the grand canal, particularly at sunset. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in venice!

I stayed here over Valentine's Day with my other half. We got a really cheap deal for 3 nights and I think it was excellent value for money! We stayed in the annex building which is less than 1 minute from the main hotel, I choose this room because they were more modern. The room was fantastic, very clean. It...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
