We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in September 2015 after our cruise. It was a very plaisant stay. Hotel is very clean and comfortable and has an elegant venitian charm. Many little attentions that are welcome: fresh fruits in room, complementary bottle of prosecco, free wifi, safe box and elegant multy choice breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful....

Staff extremely helpful , excellent customer service, extremely clean and comfortable hotel. Location excellent for st Marco, water bus stops just at the bottom of the alley. Situated on a small square with a bistro and church, lovely to sit and have a drink or two¡

Our experience of this place was sensational from before we even got here. We drove to Venice from Tuscany and as we approached my wife called ahead for directions and advice on getting to the hotel via the vaparetto and they could not have been more helpful and took their time in explaining things to ensure we were ok. Upon...

This hotel is in a great location and safe to walk to at night. Waterbus stop one minute from hotel with only one short pathway walk you are there. This location is only a few minutes walk (pleasant, over one bridge passing designer shops) to St Marks Square, the Grand Canal and lots of restaurants and cafes. Very easy from...

From the moment we arrived an Plazzo del Giglio we we're made to feel very welcome. All the staff were immaculately smart and very polite. Even to the point of recognising us every time we saw them. The room was very well laid out, with a jacuzzi bath, mini bar, safe in the room and we even received a complimentary...

This is a nice hotel and very convenient for transportation and San Marco. It is steps from Giglio stops on #1 line. We stayed in a quad room which was very well maintained. Staff is very helpful and breakfast has everything you would expect in a continental breakfast. I found it strange that they charge extra for hard boiled eggs...

Nice place all around. Good breakfast spread, gracious staff and great rooms for families. Several rooms had 3 separate beds and apartment type layouts. We were overlooking the plaza but did not have any sound issues. Don't expect it to be like a brand new Ritz or Fairmont inside but for Venice I thought it was first class....

You cannot beat the location and the people who work the front desk are a dream, full of great recommendations and very helpful. The breakfast in the mornings is also well above average and the workers there make the best cafe lattes and espressos. On the downside, our room was very tired. We stayed in a junior suite - it...

Fantastic location, quiet and clean. Very warm and friendly staff. The facilities in the suite were very comfortable and in a good working condition. The fruits and a bottle of sparkling wine were kindly brought for us to the room, for free. Unforgettable 3-day stay in the hotel! Highly recommended.

This hotel is closely located to a water bus stop, which can ferry you to and from the airport. The hotel is 10 minutes walk from San Martin Place, with all of the higher end retail shops only minutes away. The hotel is clean and tidy, with the room size satisfying stereotypical European standards. Breakfast was ok, however you need...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
