This is a small hotel but there was nothing small about the friendliness of all the staff. We had a room on the 3rd floor to the back of the hotel, it backed onto a small laneway. It was very tastefully furnished in the Queen Anne style antique cream. It was a twin room. There was no tea and coffee...

This is a small hotel simply in the best location . It is steps away from all sites, boat taxi station, Piazza San Marco and the most old and famous hotels in Venice. Rooms are adequate and clean. Staff is extremely friendly with a smile all day long. breakfast is basic and coffee is really good. you are surrounded by...

Located less than 5 mins walk from St Marks Square, very close to water taxi stops. A nice quiet hotel, although only did bed and breakfast, you are within easy reach of lots of good places to eat. Polite and helpful staff, my 1st visit to Venice, would stay here again.

The location was absolutely perfect for both sites and cruise ship embarkation. Hotel was quaint, small (as is expected in Europe) very comfortable, private bathroom and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend.

The room was small and a bit noisy, but clean and comfortable. Very good location. The hotel gives to be expected from three stars. Breakfast is ok, but nothing special. Servise is helpful and nice. Wifi works well.

The location is one bridge from St. Marks and one bridge (with ramp) from where the boat #2 drops you. The room is small, mattress is old, pillows older. Gap under door so your neighbors sound like they are coming in your room when getting in late or up early for breakfast. Not a unique problem, but a/c not on,...

We stayed at one of the apartment that the hotel owns, in a separate building. The location is perfect : a small street behind St. Marco square , just a few steps from the St Zaccaria vaporetto stop. The apartment is quite spacious with a nice bathroom, a kitchen equipped for preparing light meals, a good dining table, plenty of...

Stayed here as a couple in February. The hotel was in a great location, with lots of local restaurants and bars nearby. It was also within 5 minutes walking of St. Mark's Square, and about 10 minutes from the Rialto bridge. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and offered many suggestions as well as directions when needed. They...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
