Stayed 2 nights. If you like new, modern hotels, this is not the one for you. There are 13 rooms in 3 different annexes. There is no elevator, all rooms are at least a flight up. The front desk is helpful, and will assist in carrying your bags up. Bedding is very sad, I doubt Goodwill would take it. Very...

Dear customer, thanks to have stayed in our house. Your choice was for our annex just 20 meters from the main house. Our annex is composed of only 3 double bedrooms for a total of 6 or maximun 8 peoples and we opted for a breakfast room with 4 tables in order to make the atmosphere so that customers more...

We were there for five nights and every day was a great experience. They bent over backwards to make sure our stay was everything it should be. The breakfast is beyond wonderful. It is a great start to a busy day of sightseeing. The location is fantastic. It is just a few steps from the water and right behind St....

I think the truest test of whether a hotel met your expectations would be whether you'd stay there again. In this instance, my response would be definite YES. This was not my first visit to Venice. It was easy to manage my expectations. True, the building is old, but that's part of its charm. If you want a resort, go...

We were warmly welcomed on arrival & the great service carried on throughout our stay. The owner even booked our water taxi for our departure & accompanied us, to where we were picked up. We would not look for anywhere else to stay the next time we visit Venice.

We were shocked on arrival at the outside and reception area of this small hotel. However, don't be fooled. The annex rooms are high quality, comfortable and quiet. Rooms in keeping with a four star hotel. The position is excellent (near San Marco) - definitely worth booking if you come to Venice for a short break. Very well done.

We stayed here for 5 nights in the annex and it was fantastic. We had two terraces, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Very clean and tidy. The kitchen was well appointed. I would very much recommend a stay. San Marco is in the next street! You can hear the beautiful bells and walk there in about 3 minutes. I thought it...

I went to Venice with my boyfriend for the first time this past July. It was AWESOME. We made our reservations though TripMasters (I recommend them for big trips). The site set us up with a different hotel but I chose this one because of location and the reviews. It's decently priced for two 20-somethings. The owners are very nice...

I had read the reviews and looked at the pictures before booking nit really knowing for sure what to expect. Having never visited Venice before, navigation was a little tricky at first but we soon found the hotel. The reception area is very small but the staff are all very helpful and friendly. We were a little early but our...

We received a lovely warm welcome here - very friendly! We were given a map of Venice, and all the basic information you'd need on arrival. The rooms are fantastic, very Venetian, with (Murano?) glass light fittings, and the lovely fabric wallpaper you find in Venice! Given the age of the building, you can't expect lifts or other modern features...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
