Highly recommend this hotel and especially want to recognize the service from Mihai at the front desk. We had a total mixup from a useless booking agency that cancelled our fully-paid booking on the day, and then failed to confirm the replacement which was meant...More
We had a beautiful room with canal view , windows with traditional persiane at the window, everything clean with a Venetian flair . The room was with gold accents , a huge mirror in the opposed side of the bed, behind the mirror was a...More
On my last visit to Venice we stayed at CASA MARTINI, which is very strategically located at a 5/7 mnt walk frm St. Lucia station. Its amidst shops and quaint little restaurants, and a cherry atmosphere. However it was all tarnished by the sight of...More
This hotel is terrible, the room was dirty, the AC did not work and if you are over 5'10" your feet will hang over the edge! The staff were rude and unhelpful, not even attempting to offer to carry our luggage up 4 flights of...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
