The hotel is right off the Vaporetto (water bus) Line 1 stop SM Giglio and close to San Marco square. The room was small with old furniture/bed/etc.. The breakfast was fine. The man issue we had was the management recommended a Murono glass tour that "the hotel was providing free of charge." DO NOT GO!!!! It is a scam/sale pitch....

We stayed 5 nights in a superior room. Room was ok, we had a view overlooking the canal. The room was quite small but it was clean and we didn't spend that much time there so it was fine. There was plenty of hot water and the room was cleaned daily. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. I found...

Stayed here during a short business trip as I wanted to be near the centre. It met my expectations based upon TripAdvisor reviews. Comfortable and very clean room and bathroom, a little small as sometimes is the case for city centre hotels (Paris examples are endless). Arrived much later than planned 1:15 am. due to underestimating the water boat time...

This hotel is in a great location within an easy 50m walk from the Giglio vaparetto stop. If you arrive by water taxi, the hotel has an entry right on the small canal behind the hotel. We had booked two deluxe rooms but as we arrived late (7pm) , we were frst given two superior rooms and after complaining the...

After the Academia priced themselves out of our market, we decided this is the place to stay in Venice at a reasonable price. It is well located, just off the path between San Marco and the path to the Accademia bridge. Ask for one of the rooms with a balcony (which overlooks the adjacent canal). A lot of the shops...

We picked this hotel for location, especially on arrival after a long flight. And, it was easy to get to (their directions) via the Alilaguna to St. Marks and then the Water Taxi (2 stops). After that, you just walk through the alley to the square & there's the hotel. That being said, it is not cheap, the rooms are...

We stayed here October 2012. The rooms are tiny, and the bathroom a tiny square with a curtain over the floor! The rooms are so noisy, you can hear everything outside, and in next rooms. The breakfast is average, but good luck getting a table. I would never stay here again. Been away 6 weeks, and this is the worst...

We stayed here for 4 nights and truly had a memorable and wonderful time. Our room was on the canal side which I would highly recommend. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range to choose from - definitely the best out of the 3 hotels we stayed in. The hotel is located very close to all sights and couldn't...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
