The Dorsoduru section of Venice is considered the "artsy" section, boasting the Accadamia and it's wonderful wooden Bridge plus numerous boutiques and upscale restaurants and hotels. We were walking with an American friend who now lives in Venice and she pointed out the Ca' Pisani Hotel and told us about its fabulous breakfast buffet. We stopped in just to chat...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in a "superior room" at this hidden jewel for two nights. Located just off the busy Grand Canal in the Dorsoduro district; the hotel is but a short walk to the vaporetto, the Zaterre and the Galleria dell'Accademia. Our room #304 was very contemporary and overlooked a beautiful garden, had a...

dear TinaL, thank you very much for the enthusiastic review with accent on our location, the view from the room (11, we do not have any room 304! ; -) , wheelchair facilities, breakfast and the shared hot water kettle with a large selection of teas/infusions on each floor. of course I am sorry for the weather, but - despite...

We stayed in the hotel from Friday to Monday over the bank holiday weekend. We arrived quite early however our room was available for us. On entering the room, we were amazed by the size and luxurious feel of it. We had a triple room which had a king size bed and a large single bed. It had two bathrooms,...

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time and will definitely be back! Your hotel is a little gem! We had walked past many times before and thought it looked good but it was much better than that.

We spent four nights at the Ca' Pisani and were extremely pleased with our experience. Located on a wide, quiet street, the hotel is beautifully designed down to the smallest details, including the logo and the creative room keys. The copious breakfast buffet was excellent. Depending on the weather, we sat either inside the small dining room or at an...

dear Tahoe13, thank you very much for the nice and detailed review. you actually pointed out our pros: beautiful attention to detail, location (I agree with you...it is great to observe the school children in the morning), the rich and healthy breakfast, the kindness and professionalism of our staff, the nearby gym where our guests can go free of charge....

We stayed at Ca' Pisani in May. The hotel is extremely stylish and great attention to detail has been paid to its furnishings. However, the staff are what make Ca' Pisani the place to return to. The room was spotless and made up twice a day. The front desk could not have been more helpful both before we went and...

We couldn't have asked for a better location. Ca' Pisani is easily walking distance to any of the "must see" sights, but far enough away that you can escape the mobs of tourists. If you prefer a vaporetto to walking, the hotel is close to either the Zattere or Academie stops. Hotel staff was incredibly helpful- booking restaurant reservations, a...

My husband and I stayed at Ca'Pisani for two nights in May 2015. This is the best location possible ... just a very short walk across the Academia Bridge to all the major sites. Venice is truly unique and beautiful as is also this hotel. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
