We will be back here again. This hotel had everything we needed. The location seems great, just far enough from San Marco, and right on the canal, but can be difficult to find when walking from S.Marco. The hotels entrance in on a narrow ally,...More
Stayed 2 nights in July.
Dubious on arrival - down a slim dark alley, but once you get to know Venice you find these place open in to great areas!
The hotel is great, all on top floor, lots of stairs.
Only 10 rooms.
This is a great, 10-room hotel in the heart of Venice. It is located steps away from the Giglio vaporetto stop. This hotel has been recently refurbished (or is new) and everything simply works for a great stay. About 5-7 minute walk from San Marco...More
Booked this hotel for a night on Venice mainland (we were staying on the Lido); booked last minute and probably had one of the cheaper rooms available however the quality was very good. The staff were very professional and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent. The...More
I started my 10 year anniversary trip in Venice and after reading several reviews decided to stay at Locanda de la Spada. The hotel is centrally located in San Marco, really close to everything and with public transportation right in front of the hotel. If...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The Alilaguna is the fastest way to the airport and it stops at the stop outside the hotel. In addition buy the tickets from a representative, there are lots of scam artists. Also check the times I believe it was every thirty minutes. I forgot how much time it took us, but I think it was 45 minutes to the airport its a long boat ride across open water, once you leave the canals.

I think hotel serves only open buffet breakfast. Receptionist informed us they have a sister hotel(at the end of the very same street/ apprx. 50 meters away) where we can have dinner (unfortunatelly I can not remember the name of the sister hotel) We preferred to have dinner at the local restaurants so I am sorry I don't have any knowledge about the service of the other hotel.
