Everything was nice with this small hotel. First of all the warm welcome from the staff and all the help we got from them finding the best of Venice. The location i excellent just a short way from train- and busstation. The room was ok and the beakfast was very good. We really did enjoy staying here for 4 nights.

Stayed at this hotel in Nov'2016. Highly recommended due to its proximity to all local attractions in Venice, restaurants and major sights. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and very good. Owner is very hospitable and friendly in assisting all her guests to her hotel.

We stayed two nights as a family at this hotel, with one couple occupying a room in the main hotel and the remaining five family members in a three-bedroom apartment about a ten minute walk away. Room in main hotel included breakfast while the apartment was of course self-serve. We were comfortable in our apartment with three bedrooms, two bathrooms...

First of all excellent location if you have luggage to carry, is steps away from train termini and piazzale roma. Two small bridges and thats it! Service was impressive, i arrived at 12.30 am and they explained everything as if i arrive at 3 pm! Comfy bed, rather small room especially if you come with luggage, but price cant be...

Came here to stay for three nights in April. Arrived early Wednesday evening (without our luggage which was lost). Received a very nice and sympathetic reception, help locating a place where we could purchase our toiletries, and a map to help us navigate the city. Room is not very large, just our bed, a small wardrobe, one chair, very small...

The Albergo Marin is a budget hotel with five star service. The location is ideal as it's just 5 minutes walk from the station or the bus. It's in a less touristic area but not far from the attractions. (incidentally, St Mark's square and the Rialto bridge are established "must sees" but Venice itself is the star attraction and walking...

The hotel was excellently located near to the bus and train stops and a 5 minute walk to the Vaporetto stops which serve the whole city and surrounding islands. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to any friends or family.

We stayed here for two nights, in a double room in the main building. The building was just a five minute walk from the train station, so it was really convenient when we arrived and left town. But it was quite far away from piazza san marco - it took us about 30 minutes to get there by foot if...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
