We stumbled onto the location of Palazzo Bembo while exploring the area near the Rialto bridge. Like Palazzo Mora, the entry is free. We enjoyed the T-S-E events better than the main Biennale events, so this worth your time to see. I especially enjoyed the videos showing daily life that take place in the house (Japan) and apartment block (Hamburg... More

A decent place to stay close to Rialto Bridge. Slightly faded, this Palazzo could benefit from a bit of updating to match the pricing levels. However it remains a friendly, spotlessly clean place to stay. We had the Junior Suite with San Marco Bell Tower View (#106) which was OK but not really a suite as shown on the photographs.... More

Stayed 3 nights in this charming place. So lucky to get the room at the front where we could look out on the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge and hear the gondoliers serenading their passengers. The breakfast was good and plentiful with a selection of cold cuts, bread, cereals and fruit and a choice of coffee although the percolated... More

The Palazza Bembo is a charming B&B on the 3 floor of a building on the Grand Canel it has only 6 rooms. Front desk staff were exceptionally helpful on check in supplying us with maps and showing places to go out of the main tourist traps. We booked the room that looked over the canel and could see the... More

Amazing Hotel situated next to Rialto Bridge. Walked passed it a few times as refurbishment taking place on the lower 2 floors (not part of the hotel). Service was excellent, bottle of proseco on arrival, which we drank by the grand canal. Highly recommend this hotel.

This Hotel was more than we expected. The building is over 500 years old and kept in such great shape. The front desk staff are so eager to help you and guide you to having the best Venetian experience possible. They gave us some great ideas and tips. The breakfast was more continental style, but still satisfying.

We visited Venice for a Special Birthday celebration for my wife, we came across the Hotel more by good fortune than good planning. What a gem it turned out to be, we had a room on the side of the hotel overlooking the canal with fantastic acoustics when the gondoliers were in full voice. The staff on reception were exceptionally... More

We stayed here for 1 night in July 2016, and the room was great value for money - it is a 1 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, and 5-7 mins to St Marks Square. We could not have imagined to get such a great place, and in such a handy location on our budget. The hotel is quite small... More

We were very pleased with Palazzo Bembo. My husband, two teenaged sons and I stayed 3 nights and found the location to be ideal. We were right on the Grand Canal just a short walk from St Marco Square and near the Rialto Bridge. The room itself was comfortable and had 4 single beds which worked well for us. The... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
