We really enjoyed our stay and would like to extend our thanks to the wonderful, friendly staff who made us feel like friends. The location was fantastic...very close to Piazza San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs. We enjoyed the sounds in the morning as we wanted a Venetian experience and it was wonderful to hear Venice waking up...the sound...

Room 150...with a terrace onto the canal..... The best. Piano nobile, first floor, corner room looking out to the Grand Canal, through the Bridge of Sighs. Pole position Three huge Windows and French window onto the canal. Ok, it's a four star. Fading and in need of TLC. But it's still got some chutzpah. Forget about the room delivered breakfast...

Dear Mr. Jones, oh... well... what can we say? THANK YOU for the most lovely review we have recently read about our Hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri. You have really seemed to enjoy Venice the way true Venetians do: - quick coffee with the locals standing up, a croissant and straight to the office :-) - "Spritz" between breakfast and...

We stayed for 5 nights. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. It is ideally located just behind San Marco square although the downside is the bells every morning at 7am, although not an issue for us as we are early risers. The other little negative was only double bed so had to share with my mum...

The rooms are stunning really, very clean. You should pick this place if you want to be very close to the San Marco square. Staff are nice, but they don't have a restaurant, so the breakfast is catered and kind of poor.

Very decent hotel for Venice, especially tourists with family and small children due to the great location and proximity to St. Mark's Square. How to Get There: If you take a water taxi, it will take you directly to hotel, but at a much more expensive rate. If you take the Alilaguna, it will be much cheaper and the walk...

We spend 4 nights in this hotel prior to a cruise. We arrived via the water bus as our last experience in Venice with a water taxi was shockingly expensive. From St. Marks Square it is an easy walk to the hotel even with luggage. It is very close to the square which makes it easy to locate the hotel...

Dear Sir, thank you so much for leaving a nice review about our Hotel Al Ponte dei Sospiri. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Yes, water-taxis are very expensive in Venice, however some of our guests find this mean of transportation somehow convenient if you travel with lots of luggage since we have our own landing stage,...

We stayed at the hotel on our honeymoon for 6 nights. The staff was fantastic, super friendly and helpful. We were given a map of Venice upon our arrival and the front desk clerk laid out some attractions and distances for us. When we needed our skip the line tickets printed, it was done without question. We had breakfast served...

Lovely friendly hotel in a really good location right by St Mark's Square. Our room was just perfect with a chandelier and a great balcony overlooking both the canal and the street. This is a small hotel with a few rooms, but the 2 rooms we occupied were excellent. I believe we had the junior suites. The decor was 18th century venetian, very pretty. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
