I don't understand where all the great reviews for this place are coming from. True, it has a very good location, so long as you don't mind stepping over the trash and dead pigeons in the alley way that leads to the entrance. Apart from...More

we thank you for your feedback. As well as you were surprised with the enthusiastic reviews about us, we were surprised about your severe judgement.
You are right: we are a guest-house and not a hotel. But we never pretended or claimed to...More
We had a fabulous stay here in the house where Marco Polo was born. Tucked away but just steps away from Rialto Bridge. Alberto is a fabulous host, and is very happy to help with travel plans, restaurant bookings etc. Highly recommended :-)
Superb location (if scary when you first approach it) but the best thing about this hotel is the owners recommendations. We struggled to find good food at a reasonable price in the location, but with some superb recommendations we found excellent food at fair prices....More
The tiny hotel that has only 6 rooms. That hotel is located in 3 to 5 minutes walk from the Rialto bridge. It has perfect location for walk to San Marco square and to the other side from the Grand Channel. The hotel doesn't have...More
Loved this place. Our room opened right onto the canal. Very central location, not far from the Rialto bridge. Alberto, the owner, made every effort to make us feel very welcome. Will definitely be going back

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
