Very conveniently located, almost right next to St Mark's Square. The room was very small and it was a bit weird that the reception was at the other hotel on the other side of the building. The major downside was the lack of fly screens...More
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Location was perfect for exploring all the different districts in Venice.
We totally enjoyed breakfast every morning, which was served in the Hotel Violino D'Oro, around the corner (also where one goes to check-in).
WiFi in both hotels was...More
This hotel is in an excellent location and that was really terrific, although it is kind of difficult to find at first since it's down a very narrow street, but that also put them in a nice, quiet courtyard. The hotel doesn't have someone on...More
This hotel is Convenient to vaporetto line. Nice room with beautiful decor but it was somewhat worn. Big bathroom. Smallest room. Staff at sister hotel helpful but need to check in next door at violina d'ora. No onsite staff. Breakfast was not to be missed....More
Once you get to the hotel it's extremely nice. Word of advice, pack lightly. We drove to Venice, and after parking (expensive), took a water bus to the hotel. However, once the bus dropped us off, it took a long time to lug all of...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Hi Kent, unfortunately you should be prepared for all transport in Venice to be expensive. We used the Alilaguna water taxi service which is probably more of a shuttle or bus service (it's not a private water taxi). The cost of this was 15 euros per person. I think the cost for private water taxis can be as around 100 - 200 euros so it's definitely a cheaper option.
It won't let me post a website link in this message but if you google Alilaguna it's the first link that comes up. It is best to get the Blue Line (Linea Blu) from the airport which leaves every 15 mins. There is no need to pre book and you can purchase tickets when you get to the airport. We got ours from a counter in the baggage claim area, but there are also machines around the airport. The website has instructions for how to walk from the airport terminal down to the departure point (it took us about 8-10mins to walk). You should then take the boat to the San Marco stop which is the closest stop to the hotel. From there, the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk. Make sure you have a map up on your phone or hard copy though, as the short walk involves a couple of turns down small alley ways (as do all Venice's walks).
Also, be prepared for a long boat ride. I think it took us about an hour and 20mins to get to the San Marco stop.
Hope that helps!

The Hotel Anastasia share some facilities with Violino d'Oro such as reception desk and breakfast room. Anastasia entrance is just around the corner, in a small yard, in the back of Violino , 5 min walking from S. marco square, exactly as they show in their website . ( 1 min walking, from the Canal Grande, if you arrive by water taxi)
