The location was sensational, 3 mins walk to the main attraction, San Marc with gondolas just next door and water taxi’s close by. The hotel was a little tight in space but nothing unusual in this neck of the woods and all top quality. Our concierge, Daniella, was exceptional: nothing was too much for her from negotiating taxi’s to providing...

Hello, how are you Dears? How was your trip back to Australia? The Vogalonga was nice that day, I'm waiting for you for your next visit to see it! I'm glad you appreciated our hotel and the position, for us is really very important to hear that you returned home with good memories about this lovely city and of course...

I stayed here for one night after getting off a cruise. It was in a great location ... short walk to St Mark's Square and and to the Grand Canal. My room was quiet and clean. I had to leave very early the next day so I didn't get to try the breakfast at the hotel. I would stay here...

This was a great hotel with my brother in law's favorite breakfast in all of our Italian travels. You check in at the hotel in front, Violin Ora, but it is very close so no problems there. The front desk folks and staff in the breakfast room were all great and helped with directions, getting laundry service, etc. I liked...

Thank you for getting back with this review, you give us the right mood to continue the work with passion and devotion. Our staff at the breakfast area is nice and open to the guest requests, the homemade cakes may flow a perfume that fills the whole neighborhood, sweet cakes or savory pies for all tastes. I'll pass this review...

Hotel is in a great location close to all attractions, vaporetto stop, airport water bus and even gondolas right outside. Good price for a centrally located hotel. Staff pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. Room clean and tidy. Shame there wasn't at least one English speaking channel on the TV but there again who has time in Venice to watch...

Dear Steve and Andie, we are happy to read you, so nice to know you appreciate our Hotel, all the staff from reception to the housekeeping and breakfast need to know that guests appreciate their work. Everything is good about the hotel - location, staff, room, breakfast. The only thing that could not complete the perfect picture was TV stations range. Only in Italian. However, I did not go beyond number 200 channel. May be something was there. But who cares about TV, if you live 300 meters from St. Mark cathedral! Enjoy your life!

The Hotel was a walking distance from St Mark's Square. The rooms were clean with a private bathroom. The view was acceptable. Close to restaurants and shopping. Couple of steps from a Gondola ride. The staff was very professional.

The hotel is very handy for the water bus from the airport (5 minutes walk) and all the major sites. Check in staff were welcoming and cheerful. The hotel is right next to a canal where you can experience the atmosphere of Venice. The room was small but adequate for our stay. The breakfasts were excellent with hot and cold...

Venice is a very expensive city to find reasonable accommodation at a good rate so we were delighted to find this gem - a cosy, quaint little hotel located near a busy gondola station and within a 5 minute walk to San Marco square. To reach the hotel from Santa Lucia train station we took the Number 1 line "vaporetto"...

Good position near gondola station, designer shops, bars & restaurants within easy reach of San Marco. Rooms are basic but very comfortable with everything you need for a short break. Staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast next door on the Violin Del Oro is very nice.

The hotel is tucked behind St Mary's square. The hotel was really clean and very comfortable. The plumbing was at times a little uncertain as the shower over the bath at times chose to not work and only the bath taps would work. Nevertheless it was a minor issue. The breakfast was served in a hotel around the corner. I...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
