This hotel was great. Excellent location. Although I only stayed for 4 nights my bedding was changed after 3. Stayed in a single room but it had a bigger than single bed. Shower was powerful and water hot. Ok, so breakfast wasn't marvellous but it set you up for the day. Both gentlemen on reception were very friendly and helpful....

This is a very basic place that would be ok as a b&b but is ridiculously over-priced as a 3-star hotel. Tiny rooms; no lift; steep, narrow stairs; meagre breakfast, to be eaten at minute tables in crowded dining-room; horrid sugary concoction instead of fruit juice, and coffee that is too unpleasant to drink; towels not always replaced; charge for...

My friend and I recently stayed at this little gem of a hotel during our stay in Venice! Its a small boutique hotel in the perfect location! Very close to all the main attractions (doge palace, st Marks square, rialto bridge, venice casino), resaturants and train station. The Hotel owner is absolutely lovely and very helpful! We could see the...

There are simple things to make an average hotel very good. Make sure the customer can adjust the air-conditioning and make sure the showers are reasonable. We had two rooms and in both the knobs of the air conditioning were missing so we had to ask the front desk to adjust the temperature-----annoying. The water from the showers varied from...

We stayed at the Eden for 3 nights this August, we found the staff to be friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our room was a good size, a pleasant decor and good sized en-suite. The air conditioning worked fine when we needed it. It suited us for location as it was near the first stop from the airport on the airport boat...

I have stayed in many four, three and even two stars hotels in Italy. This one is the WORST, and the most expensive one. I can't say it's in a good location. It's about 20 minutes walking to the main tourist places. You can get from one side of the city to another just in half an hour. Staff demands...

We enjoyed a week stay in July at the hotel. It was clean, quiet and the food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. From the hotel we were able to explore many areas, such as the beach, the streets and also travel to Venice, Padua, Treviso and Verona, using the hotel as a base. The hotel is very family oriented...

An excellent "budget" hotel in a good location. In a quiet courtyard, just off the main route between the station (5 minutes walk) and Rialto/ San. Marco (20 minutes). San Marcuola vaporetto stop only 5 minutes walk away. We had 2 good sized single rooms both of which were en-suite, with air-conditioning and very clean. One room (201) also had...

Yes the hotel is very small, this includes the rooms and the breakfast area. We were very skeptical after reading some of the reviews online of this place, but think this hotel is perfect the way it is. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a bit small and could use some meat. We went to hotel...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
