The room and the bathroom in La Forcola are clean but very small. There is not enough space to move about after you keep one small suitcase on the floor. You won't be served breakfast if you check out before eight a.m, not even a cup of coffee, even though you may have requested for it the night before. Mithu...

Nice and cozy, clean little hotel that offers great value! My room was maybe a bit on the small side, but I found it pleasant nevertheless. The breakfast was nice (apricot crostata, yummy!) as was the service. My only negative comment was that the doors were not open 24h. I usually get up very early in the morning (for sunrise...

We paid 50euro a night to stay in this hotel in low season which for venice is very cheap indeed. The hotel is located in an excellent position on a busy street that runs all the way from the bus/railway station to the rialto brige, about half way between the two. The area is vibrant with many shops bars and...

We stayed here on our honeymoon in July 2007. This hotel was a great find, good value for money and great location. We took the advice of a review on here, and asked for a room with canal views which we were lucky enough to get. We had a balcony overlooking a small canal and views of Venice. The room...

Good location although first room had a problem we were moved to another without a terrace really quickly without any problems. The canal views are limited but sure would be much better on the side rooms as less noise than the front on the 3rd floor as noisey street vendor. Very friendly staff helped us with directions and places to...

I really loved this hotel. The year before, my first time in Venice, I stayed at the San Cassiano Residenza d' Epoca Ca' Favretto, & although that hotel gets rave reviews, I liked the Hotel La Forcola better. The room was small, but nice. Most European rooms are small anyway & I think it's part of the charm. It had...

booked through europeanvacations.com We spent 6 days touring italy with two nights at the Hotel La Forcola in Venice. The room was nice and the view from both sides of the room were great. The bathroom was a little odd. Th eshower was just a corner of the bathroom with no shower curtains or doors - very strange. The other...

We stayed 6 nights it's in a OK location. The Vaporetta stop is called S. Marcola it's a small bridge and a short walk away. It was an easy ride from the Piazza Roma bus station even with luggage. It tends to get a little deserted aound the vaporetta stop after 9:00pm on weekdays. We had a 'double room' that...

We spent one night in this hotel and thank goodness it was only one night. The room was so small that we could not unpack our cases and had to leave them standing up in the doorway so we could get to our bed. The TV didn't work,. the bathroom had no screen whatsoever so water just went everywhere. The...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
