The staff at the Hotel Antiche Figure can't do enough for you - from the extra cup of cappuccino, to printing off train timetables, to suggestions for restaurants, to tours. The hotel is in an excellent location if you are arriving by train, literally straight across the Grand Canal from the station. The complimentary breakfast has cereals, pastries, fresh fruit,...

We just rented this hotel for one night because we came by cruise and the first night was accommodated on the ship. The hotel was classy and comfortable but most importantly the staff were very friendly and was very helpful in answering all our "touristy" questions and gave us very good recommendations on where to go and where to eat....

We booked four nights at Antiche Figure after our Airbnb turned out to be a bust. Despite being a last minute reservation, we were pleasantly surprised. We were given a free upgrade in the hotel's new area, which is not in the main building but a few metres down a nearby alley. The room was lovely, and everything was new...

The location is good. The staff are always smiling. The view at train station (grand canal) is fun at night. The breakfast is tasty. The only thing I didn't like is that we took the small towels (my kid). I was shocked by the lady at the reception asking us about them upon leaving! However, they didn't ask me to...

Excellent location near the bus station and near water taxis that you can get around the city. Staff were very helpful and their advice was crucial in making the most out of a relatively short break. Great value for a super location in an amazing city.

We arrived pretty late into the city and dragged our bags over only 2 bridges and canals to the hotel. The concierge could not have been more pleasant. She was so patient with her restaurant and route recommendations. And spoke English very well. The wifi is strong and consistent, we were able to stream podcasts all night. The hotel decor...

Spent 5 fabulous days here exploring Venice. I cannot praise the staff high enough, from our arrival, throughout our stay and right up to check out, every single member of staff was outstanding, helpful, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to ensure our holiday was brilliant. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the bus station and...

We stayed at the Hotel Antiche Figure for 3 nights in December 2016. The staff at this hotel are great and really made for an enjoyable stay. They really care about their guests having a great time in the hotel and in Venice, they treat you like family! (The kind of family you like! :) Nothing was too much trouble...

We stayed at the Hotel Antiche Figure for 3 nights during our recent visit to Venice. It was perfect! The hotel is on the Grand Canal, across from the train station and a short walk to the bus station. We were able to take the bus to the airport on the morning that we were departing. Piazza San Marco is...

The Hotel Antiche Figure is conveniently located and walking distance to St. Marks Square. The upgraded corner room with a view of the canal is well worth the upcharge. There is someone at the front desk 24 hours, which was very convenient because of our midnight arrival. The staff goes out of their way to make your experience special, including...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
