I walked to his hotel from the train station with my luggage in tow. It only took me 3 small bridges and 10 minutes later I arrived to the hotel. I was upgraded to a bigger room in another building just next door. There was no lift, however, the man at the front reception carried my bag upstairs to my...

Venice was our first stop in a four city tour of Italy and it was our favorite city. Ca'Gottardi made it even more special. The location in Cannaregio was perfect, close by the public water taxi and easy enough to walk to San Marco. We had a room that faced the side canal and it was beautifully decorated. The breakfast...

This hotel has the kindest most obliging staff! I wasn't totally happy with my room ( partly because it faced a wall) partly because the superior rooms with views were all taken! and they couldn't have nicer, taking me to see what other rooms were available once they became available. The room although small was comfortably tastefully decorated . Breakfasts...

This is a very nice boutique hotel.we stayed for 3 nights, on arrival the room was not ready as we were very early but we're offered a upgrade to one of the suites a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with local knowledge. The hotel is on a Main Street with plenty to do and is only a...

I stayed here with a photography tour group over Carnivale and was apprehensive based on some of the reviews. However, I was delighted with this hotel; staff were gracious, accommodating and always ready to help me access the other building if my colleague had the key. Breakfast was terrific and cappucino was made to order no matter how early our...

Although this hotel has a good location and some very good rooms, the best part of the hotel is its exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They were always smiling and helpful! The breakfast selections were very good and appealed to me but were perhaps a little less than perfect for a dieter or one looking for cooked or several high...

First visit to Venice and decided to stay in Ca Gottardi, which was a great choice. Had a slight problem finding it at first as it's really just a doorway, but once inside we received a warm friendly welcome. The standard room is quite small although well appointed and our room had no view which was unfortunate, however small room...

We stayed four nights in the Suite. We didn't want to leave! Hotel was very conveniently located to many restaurants and all of the sights we wanted to see. It was perfectly situated near enough "stuff" but far enough from all the touristy traps of San Marco. We took a shared boat in which was very convenient, we had to...

I've been to Italy many times, stayed at many terrific B&B's. This is more of a boutique hotel, and it is fantastic. It excelled in every caption...staff, location, comfort, decor, breakfast, etc.. If I could find one of these anyplace, anytime I traveled, I'd stay there...PERIOD. Do note that there are stairs to climb but the staff will help with...

Location is perfect, the room is weel decorated, the staff is very helpful and friendly and the breakfast very good! We stayed in a bedroom with view to the canal, and they arranged to put 2 extra beds for the kids! They are also very child friendly, helped warming some milk for them at night. Will return with sure!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, just around the corner from Ca' d'Oro and the Casino, Ca' Gottardi's superior location is one of the best. Its rooms and ambiance aspire to be one of the most sophisticated structures in Venice where traditional art and innovative design combine in a rare elegance. Ca' Gottardi provides charming accommodations, each unique, in the most elegant Maison de Charme style. Its interiors are the result of an attention to details with regard to materials and techniques and a heightened sensitivity in approaching forms and volumes in accordance with Venetian artistic tradition. Clean and modern design is reflected in the entrance stairway of pure white marble and balustrade in crystal, where light creates unique effects. In addition to the piano nobile, guests are welcomed with a unique elegance, in which the creativity of Italian design enriched by a touch of luxury that is typical of the great patrician residences. Ca' Gottardi occupies the main floor of an antique Venetian palace from the XV century, then known as Ca' Priuli. Ca' Gottardi overlooks the Rio de Noal with a balcony covered by a beautiful late 17-th century quadrifora window. From here, you can admire Ca' Pesaro to your right, today the home of the Modern Art Gallery. Here are Ca' Gottardi's rooms, a world of class and refinement, for an unforgettable stay. Furnishings have been crafted by experts, in the classical Venetian 18th-century style, and evoke that noble elegance that has made Venice famous throughout Europe. Fine brocade curtains and carpets provide a warm contrast to a light-filled ambience created by the high ceilings and large windows. The world-famous art of glass is displayed in the chandeliers, the appliqués and in the gold-framed mirrors. Parquet floors in African woods in warm tones of red and brown are laid with rich soft carpeting. ... more   less
