This hotel was really good value i paid €100 for two nights including breakfast The room was clean tidy and well kept, no TV but did have private bathroom, but not all rooms do i understand. the location is fantastic right next to a vaporetto stop for lines 1 and 2 and a very short walk to the train station....

We initially booked as this was one of the cheapest places to stay in Venice. However, it turned out to be a great booking. The location is perfect, close to the Vaporetto stop going to the islands of Murano and Lido, a 5 minute walk from the main Vaporetto stop to most if not all of Venice's other locations, and...

Stayed four nights at the hotel. It's in a good location for public transport links from the airport. Rooms are very basic and sparsely furnished. There is no TV in the room and some rooms have shared bathroom. We made sure when we booked that we had our own. The lack of TV wasn't a problem as we didn't go...

I visited Casa Sant'Andrea about 8 years ago, and was glad to revisited it in 2016. From airport, I took the public ($10) bus to Venice.... walked the block and a half, and there it was. Then on "cruise day", you walk about half a mile in the opposite way, and the cruise ship is waiting for you. If "location,...

We stayed in Venice over the new year period. Very happy with the service, staff, breakfast and the cleanliness of the room. Not all BnBs have daily room cleaners, this one did. The hotel has an 'oldy' feel to it, with large bathrooms and good comfortable sized rooms. The hotel is right next to the bus station which is perfect...

The Casa is very well located. The reason I say that is because we booked a cruise and it was the nearest hotel to where the ship was docked. However, we had to take a 5-minute walk with our heavy luggage to and from the hotel, as it was not accessible to the rental van we had. There is a...

We are so glad we stayed at The Casa. It was extremely clean, quiet, has good staffing and good location. We wanted to try a monastery in Venice and picked this because of its closeness to the train station. Not only was it close to the train, but the buses and boats, too. Right around the corner is a great...

I booked 2 nights B&B from 13 October at Casa Sant'Andrea given its close proximity to the cruise terminal for €215 with payment due directly to the hotel - thankfully! I filed the confirmation until our arrival in Venice and I was horrified to then see that we had been allocated a room with a shared bathroom!!! MY WIFE AND...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
