Good hotel, perfect location on Grand Canal and convenient to shops, Rialto, street stalls and restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms comfortable - we had a 3rd floor room with a tiny balcony. Breakfast was good with a large selection. Winter rates are good value for money

Everything about this hotel is simply wonderful - couldn't wish for anything better. Perfect in every way. We have always received the warmest and friendly reception from all of the staff and we cannot wait to return in February when the famous Carnival is taking place!:-)

The Foscari Palace enjoys an excellent location on the Grand Canal in Venice. It is situated in the Campo Santo Sofia which is off the Strada Nova. Nearby you can catch the waterbus from the Ca' D'oro or next to the hotel is the traghetto that crosses to the Rialto Market where you can find a fantastic selection of fish,...

Buy a travel pass on- line from Venezia Unica website before leaving home country. Tickets to be picked up from a machine at airport. These tickets include bus travel between airport and Piazzale Roma where you pick up the vaporetto. They are extremely good buys.

This is a very pleasant, well-situated hotel, fronting on the Grand Canal, close to the Ca'd'Oro Vaporetto stop, with Strada Nouva behind it, the direct route from the Railway Station on foot to the Rialto area. It's a good place to get to most parts of Venice from. The Hotel has some superb and pleasant staff, and very peaceful lounge...

We stayed here for 4 nights in November. The hotel is beautiful. We got Junior Suite Gonzaga overlooking the Grand Canal. The room was awesome. Huge, comfortable and quiet. Lots of closet space and a mini fridge. It was grand. The bathroom was average size, but the shower was a little small and the shower head was clogged because it...

This hotel is a perfect place to stay when visiting Venice.. location is great, just off the Ca d Or vaporetto stop, and within easy walking distance of all the attractions of Venice. The staff are warm and welcoming, breakfast is fabulous, with lots to choose to fuel you up for the day. My only gripe was a tired bathroom...

We have been to Venice before and it was our last stop for our cruise so we booked one night. Foscari Palace was one of a short list of hotels that was ON the Grand canal and offered a one night stay. We have no problem spending extra for a canal facing room because that is what Venice is about,...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“Having stayed a number of times at this hotel, I have never had a room which disappointed. However if you do not want to pay extra for a room overlooking the Grand Canal, I do like the rooms with a view of Campo Santa Sofia. ”

“I would recommend the Junior Suite Gonzago on the 2nd floor with 2 small balconies overlooking the Grand Canal. The suite met all our expectations and was perfect for the brilliant view which enabled my wife and I to enjoy watching all the hustle and bustle of the Grand Canal.”

“Don't expect a view of the Grand Canal in the normal rooms. They are at a premium. However some of the side rooms have small balconies and you can get some view from them. ”
