Situated on the Grand Canal, adjacent to a gondola station which runs across the market on the opposite side of the canal, this hotel is ideally placed, geographically, for exploring Venice. The Rialto bridge is a 15 minute walk on one direction, whilst Ca' D'oro vaporetto is 2 minutes away in the other and Fondemente nova is a 10 minute...

We have returned here every year for the past few years. Very friendly and helpful staff. Love the breakfasts. Only a few yards to the Strada Nuova and the Ca d'Oro vaporetto. Small landing stage to have drinks on. Opposite the Fish Market so lots of action around. Also an 'altana' on the roof for drinks and snacks. Just perfect

We stayed at this Hotel as part of our 10th wedding anniversary/renewal of vows trip. I had emailed the hotel on a few occasions before arrival and they could not have been more helpful and friendly. From the moment we walked through the door we loved every minute of our stay. The staff were just as friendly and helpful in...

The room was incredible, the bathroom was HUGE and the view from our windows took our breathe away! Pay a little extra for the view of Grand Canal. The Vaporetti - water buses- is around the corner from the hotel and the gondola rides are in front of the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was...

Brilliant location, 100m from C'ai D Oro water bus stop (line 1, so easy to get to from airport/station). Quiet but very close to Strada Nuova, which is a main route with many excellent shops and restaurants, only 1km (10 minutes) walk from Rialto or St Mark's Square. Rooms more than decent size, very clean. Towels could be better, but...

The location of the Foscari Palace tucks it away from the mayhem of the St. Marks area, but is close enough to stroll there in about 15 minutes. It's right on the Grand Canal and there's a vaporetto stop just metres away. The public gondola ferry across to the Rialto Market is right outside the door. The staff were friendly,...

The location of the hotel, right in front of where the gondolas dock to ferry people across the canal, was perfect. We were upgraded to a huge room with two balconies! We loved to go up to the rooftop and look out on the beauty of Venice as well as enjoy a drink on the patio in front of the...

We had the most amazing room at the Foscari Palace - the bed was gigantic and the room so big I could have done a cartwheel across it. Room 208 is a 'superior' room that faces over Campo Sainta Sofia, but still with a clear view up the Grand Canal...and of the gondola stop for people wanting to make a...

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel. I was in Venice for the first time on holiday with my sister and adult niece. The Foscari Palace is in a great location near a water bus stop. Our room overlooked the canal. It was spacious and clean. The staff was always helpful. The only compliant I have is that the pillow...

We stayed for three days and had a great time. Hotel is right on the canal, next to a gondola stand and has a personal dock for private water taxis to access directly which was handy when coming or going to the airport. The rooms are decent size, pillows are very flat and no English speaking TV channels, but the...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

“I would recommend the Junior Suite Gonzago on the 2nd floor with 2 small balconies overlooking the Grand Canal. The suite met all our expectations and was perfect for the brilliant view which enabled my wife and I to enjoy watching all the hustle and bustle of the Grand Canal.”
