The room we stayed in was clean, decent size. The main pros are that it's cheap, clean and close to the station. However, the negatives were such that I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it. There is a guy on reception most days who is extremely grumpy and rude. Upon checking in he barely spoke to us,...

It was the pleaces hotel I found on the internet, and is really worth it. For breakfast we didn't have a lot of food but they were really delicious. The staff was totally friendly. Our room and the shared bathroom were truly clean. If you don't have so high standards and want to spare on the accommodation, this place is...

The location of that hotel is excellent, near train station, and 20 minutes walk to San Marco square. Rooms are comfortable and remain medieval period :) wifi is free only one hour, but there is this kind woman in administration who allows you to use more without paying... cause the man is awful, he wants us to pay like 2...

The location was pretty good, just outside the door was a central street that has lots going on and is close to everywhere. Cheap for a Venice accommodation, though I guess you get what you pay for. The cleaners were lovely and made our beds for us, so the room and facilities were nice and clean. HOWEVER. Having to ask...

This hotel is located very close to the train station and right in the middle of the shops, cafes and restaurants. Rooms are small but quite adequate, after all you are in Venice to experience everthing not sit in your room. Complementary breakfast is typical Italian and serves the purpose. Staff are helpful with your needs. Would definitely stay here...

the room is not bad with a sink inside and a shared bathroom. but it is on the sixth floor without any lift and no air-con. it is very very tired for people who carry heavy luggage. especially the sixth floor only consists a very narrow staircase.

Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful time here, despite our fears that a low-budget hotel could offer good services. It was warm, safe, clean and friendly. We came to this hotel after we had the most unpleasant experience with the owner of another hotel (Caneva). You can read my review over there. Actually, I had the same problem with...

Stayed there for 2 days with family. A very basic room with attached bathroom. There was scarcity of plugpoints. No kettle in room. And welcome the mosquitoes to spend the night with you! Price was ok but not quite money's worth. Location is the one plus point of this property with Santa Lucia station a short walk away.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
