This was our last stop of a two week Italy trip so were looking for something on a budget. This hotel is the perfect location right next to the train station (although you don't hear trains) and a short walk from the bus station (to airport). Lots of restaurants on your doorstep, 10 minute walk from supermarket. Staff helpful, rooms...

We were looking for hotel closer for train station, because we are travelers with small kids and many suitcases. It was good choice - only 5 minitues from train to hotel in the promenade road with a lot of shops and restaurants. Breakfast is very simple, but you will not leave it hungry. Rooms are old style - with carpets....

For anyone over 5'7 will that not take a good shower. They have twin beds for a 6'4 man. They clean with Clorox, the bathrooms and has a heavy smell of Clorox. So I told them not to clean the bathrooms any longer because of the heavy Clorox smell. Breakfast consist of boiled egg, cheese, yogurt and bologna. The staff...

The people at the reception were friendly and welcoming. The room was rather small (no refrigerator), but the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. The bathroom was also small, but it was clean and the shower cabin had a good design. The Internet (free) worked without any problems. The breakfast was rather bland and there wasn't...

We were only in Venice a couple of days(which turned out to be a great decision because we found Venice to be the worst stop on our trip) so we thought staying near the train station so we could catch our early train out and not have to juggle luggage and a toddler would be a good choice. The good:...

We did not book this hotel but were bumped the night before travel (phone call, when it was too late to make alternative arrangements), to this hotel by Travel Republic. I will never use Travel Republic again and advise you to beware of the unprofessional service from them. When an airline over books they offer the customer an UPgrade, when...

We picked this hotel because it was close to the train station and also Piazzale Roma. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing advice on all sorts of tourist issues: where to eat, how to go to a particular place etc. The room was a good size, had a lovely view out to a garden courtyard behind the hotel...

Awful claustrophobic tiny room. The dark red carpet goes a bit of the way up the walls. Continuing up from the dark carpet are red striped fabric walls. As soon as I entered the room I felt dizzy and couldn't wait to get out. The 'bathroom' is a tiny plastic capsule built into the room. When you have a shower,...

The room was too small and smelling bad. Small means only 2 double bed can fit. Staff was not friendly except russuan girl. They wrote "dont fillup your bottles from here" in breakfast area. What kind of claim is this? But Venezia is wonderful!

This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station. It's surrounded by all the shops and restaurants. It's 2 minutes to the nearest water taxi ranks. The room we had was compact. Very compact but for a weekend and considering we were out seeing this beautiful city is was ok. Rooms have AC. The hotel does a continental...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
