Great location. Equal distance from St Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. Great rooms and great service. Water taxi landing on premises. Plenty of shopping and restaurants close by. Very clean and modern. Large rooms, walk in closets and large bathrooms.

Venice seems to be a tough place to find a reasonably priced good quality hotel. After many hours spend researching on Trip Advisor we settled on the Palace Bonvecchiati. It was a good choice! Walked from the train station to the dock where we had a private boat waiting to take us to the hotel. I beautiful trip through the...

This was our first trip to Venice and the Palace Bonvecchiati made our experience very comfortable. Our room was clean and well appointed. The staff was gracious and patiently helpful. The location was close to the Rialto bridge, but more importantly close to the best gelato in Italy, Venchi! You must have some while you are there. The breakfast buffet...

Accommodations were adequate but very over priced, but that's Venice and to be expected. However, what is not expected is surly desk staff with a dose of attitude. We were told that our room would be ready at 2:00, the stated check in time. We returned at 2:15 and were told to come back at 3:00 as our room wasn't...

Great hotel, very clean with daily room service. Large selection at buffet breakfast. Central location, near San Marco. Fabulous restaurant out front door - Michelin Guide many years running - Le Bistrot de Venise. Hotel arranged private water taxi for tour of Murano. Staff helpful and price very reasonable. The shower did leak (and had done for a while judging...

We recently returned from a romantic four night stay at the Palace Bonvecchiati. We were greated by lovely friendly reception staff (Valentino) who showed us to our room. My husband had asked Jet.2 if they could email the hotel to see if we could be upgraded because of our 30th wedding anniversary and we were taken to one of the...

I will keep my review brief – previous reviews have covered most things. The hotel is fine. Central to everything, our room was a reasonable size, modern, quiet, clean, comfortable. The wall mounted hairdryer was useless but to their credit a hand held hairdryer was in my room within half an hour when I requested one. Breakfast was edible. So...

We visited last year and had the most wonderful time!! Ugo and the rest of the team in Reception are amazing, we had the loveliest welcome from the staff and they really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble. They helped us with a number of problems with external tours (nothing to do with the hotel but they re-organised...

On a recent family trip to Venice, we stayed 2 nights at the Palace Bonvecchiati. While it is not for budget travelers, if you want a memorable hotel stay befitting a magical city like Venice I urge you to check this place out especially if you have kids. We were blown away by the size of our modern, stylish room...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“If you have a canal view, understand that you may have "noise" from the singing/accordions on the gondolas. This was charming for us but may be irritating in high season if more frequent.”
