We stayed here for just one night. We arrived very early Saturday morning , and where allowed to leave our luggage before check in at 2pm. Location was great for exploring Venice, but slightly difficult to get to with lots of cases - we had to get a taxis boat there (very expensive ) and when we where leaving had...

Friendly and helpful staff. Very good accommodation and well situated to the main sights in Venice. Taxi dock only a few metres away from the front door. Well located for the main water bus terminals and some very nice restaurants

We had a difficult time finding the hotel, but finally found a person who took us there. Small sign and a doorbell to gain initial entry. Once there, the staff was very nice. Hotel location is good for getting to all of the sights and the water taxis. The continental breakfast was fine. They even started a little early as...

My third time staying at palazzo schiavoni and as fantastic as the two previous stays. The hotel is quite centrally located but just far enough away to be out of the tourist hoards. Lovely rooms and fantastic service. They even leave a bag of fresh bread on the door handle each morning. Best gelato store in Venice, La Mela Verde,...

This is a nice hotel our room was very small though nicely furnished and overlooked a yard the staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel has a very small plaque on the wall and shares it door with some apartments. It was very close to San Marco and near the water bus stop. I think we were the only people...

Venice is a mysterious city, but what a city it is!! Palazzo Schiavoni is the best place to stay in Venice. It is accessible by boat and also has another door to walk out of onto the street. We stayed in one of their self contained apartments that also included a concierge. The room looked like it was out of...

Very friendly staff , lovely clean and spacious rooms with plenty of storage for those that like to unpack. Shower a bit small and water pressure not very good but the water is nice and hot. Heating works well, almost too good, had to open the windows to let some cool air in!! There is a supermarket a minutes walk...

Arrived early but canal-side room was ready - just like the brochure - decorated ceiling, curtain swags, padded bedhead and very comfortable bed. Breakfast in our room the first few days, served on a massive tray - hot frothy milk, plenty of coffee in the pot. The breakfast room was opened once kitchen maintenance completed and the buffet selection was...

We were in Palazzo Schiavoni last August for two mights. The location is very convenient. The staff super friendly and helpful. The room was small, but confortable. Steps from Piazza San Marco. We had AC, very important that time of the year.

This quaint BnB was a wonderful spot in Venice for the price. Although it had older decor, it was very clean. The highlight of our stay was the service. Nasir was a fabulous host who made our entire weekend wonderful. He arranged tours, dinners and served a wonderful breakfast. Thank you, Nasir, for going above and beyond.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
