Have just returned from the best hotel in Venice. Six friends arrived from the Orient Express to be welcomed by an amazing reception from the great staff. They could not do enough to make our stay memorable. From the gratis bellinis to recommending a couple of terrific restaurants. We could not fault their professional attitude. We all are seasoned travellers...

The location of this hotel is great, quiet and away from the crowds. Ideally situated near to the bus station at Piazzale Roma for easy access to and from the airport! Staff were brilliant, so friendly and always went out of their way to help. Great touch with the early evening complimentary snacks!

We came to Venice for our anniversary and upgraded to the room with a bathtub and balcony (202). For Italy, the room and especially the bathroom, were quite spacious. The balcony overlooks the courtyard rather than the river but was wonderful. Most of all, we have to say how great all of the staff were. We made several special, but...

We stayed here for one week. It was perfect from day one to our last. The hospitality was truly exceptional. The breakfasts had a great variety. They "happy hour" of evening snacks every night from 630-8p! On our first night we were so tired and it was a welcome surprise to have some snacks and wine on arrival. The location...

Great stay in a lovely hotel. From the time we made our reservation till the time we left for home the staff couldn't be more accommodating. Arranging drivers, recommending restaurants and making us feel very comfortable. Breakfast and snacks (enough for a lite dinner) at happy hour are included. The room was spotless and the shower had great water pressure.The...

My husband and I visited this fantastic hotel last weekend based on previous trip advisor reviews. We absolutely loved it. I thought the location was fabulous and it was very easy to walk to all the amazing sites in Venice and near to 2 vaparetto stops if your not keen on walking. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly....

On our first trip to Venice, we decided to come back to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We picked this hotel and found it to be the perfect romantic place for this celebration. We had arranged with the hotel for a driver who would take us to the Piazza Roma where we would then be escorted on foot (he pulled...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
