Apartment was very spacious and in a good location. This is the 2nd time we have stayed there. Good value for your money. We enjoyed our stay in Venice and would recommend this apartment to a family of 5 or 6 or group of adults. There was a kitchen that could be used to cook in but when your on...

A little hard to find at first, but then great location, beautiful rooms and very nice breakfast. Lovely service. We are a family of Mom, with two college kids. We thought the bathroom was really nice as was the furniture and homey feeling of the hotel. The location works great.

Staying at Locanda Cà del Console is a step back into time. The bedroom is massive and the entire complex is decorated with beautiful antique furnishings. The staff go out of their way to help you so that you experience a wonderful stay and enjoy the best Venice has to offer.

We traveled in Italy this spring with friends. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment in Venice, Italy with our friends. The apartment was excellent and very well located. The staff member that greeted us did an outstanding job. She met us at the boat landing and walked us to the apartment. Our friends also loved the apartment. By sharing...

This was the most amazing room we stayed in during our trip to Europe. It was huge and gorgeous, with high ceilings, a beautiful chandelier and large windows that opened onto a canal. Well situated with only ten mins walk from the Rialto Bridge, but make sure you have a map before you set out.

When you first arrive, although the welcome is extremely warm, you wonder where you have arrived as the hotel is unique in everyway - it felt like arriving in someones front room! However, after a few hours in the hotel and the company of the hosts you couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Venice. The rooms are quirky and very...

We were made to feel so welcome at the Locanda ca' del Console, the staff couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. The hotel itself is a beautiful building filled with antiques and interesting objet d'art - including quintessentially Italian Kitsch!! Loved !! ... It is in the historic centre of Venice, close to the Rialto Bridge and Saint Marks...

This home, which was the official residence of the Hungarian Consul many decades ago, is a serene and relaxing place to rest after walking around Venice. The staff gave us some amazing recommendations for dinner, which fulfilled our number one rule: no touristy restaurants with tourist menus. The accommodations, the breakfast, and the service was great. We will definitely come...

Because I mixed up the dates, our room was given away at another hotel and Marina and Duana stepped in to give us shelter. This hotel is very clean, had a nice room with courtyard view, bidet, hair dryer, and heated towel rack. Marina, the hotel manager, was very helpful in drawing directions for us on our map so that...

We found this place on the web as we were looking for something near both the Rialto bridge and St Marks Square. The rooms on the third floor are quite nice once you get there after all the stairs. It was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was OK (great coffee). The cleaner was very helpful if you needed anything and...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
