We had a lovely stay at Locanda ai Bareteri. Due to its central (yet in a quite side street) location this hotel allowed us to explore all of Venice's famous attraction by walking only a few minutes. The staff was super friendly and took much time to help us finding our way around and give useful recommendations. The breakfast was... More

This B&B was very good in many ways. The location is as good as it gets. The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful in many ways and times. This included meeting us at the airport water ferry stop close to midnight. And again for my wife when she got lost in those little streets of Venice. You have to be... More

Stayed 5 nights in the hotel, we were on the top floor (no lift, but no big deal ) and could see over to the 3 domes of the Bassilica. Breakfast is continental, fruit, yoghourt, rolls and jams/marmalade. The location is just great, close to the Rialto bridge so its easy to get to from the ferry points and only... More

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the bareteri. The location was perfect and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. The only drawback for some may be the stairs that have to be walked to get to the rooms. There is no elevator. I thought it was good exercise!! Will definitely recommend to all (great price) and... We stayed here for the pre carnival weekender meaning for 2 nights considering the small period of time we were about to stay we obviously needed a central hotel...basically this was it !!! all the events were just a few minutes away as most of them were at piazza san marco and rialto ....the only thing i would recommend is... We stayed here last year, for 5 nights, paying a total of EUR 850, or EUR 170 / night. When we reserved, we were aware that this was more than other reviewers had paid, but since we were very keen on a large, smoking room, we didn’t quibble much. First the pros. Bareteri was always prompt with their communication &... More

With very little time available, our Swiss friends booked for us a micro-trip from Switzerland to Venice to give us a teaser for a longer trip in the future. They chose Locanda ai Bareteri for us as they had stayed there in the past. There were four of us - two couples - and since we wanted to spend our... More

I chose this hotel because of the great reviews here on TA, and I was not disappointed! It's right in the middle of some amazing shopping and a very short distance to The Rialto Bridge and a Vaporetto stop. The staff was courteous and very helpful and the service went above and beyond. (They helped us check in very late,... More

Had stayed in this B&B in the mid of August with family... The walkway to the B&B doesn't look good, but once you enter the B&B (located upstairs), wow... The B&B is just located in between the St. Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge, which is so convenient for us to walk around.. The breakfast, we love it so much... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in a very large room on the 4th floor, which was just lovely with old fashioned furniture, including a very comfortable bed. Quiet from street noise with the windows shut. The bathroom was modern. The stairs are a bit of a detraction, but makes you take all you need at one go. You can... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
