Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

I would take the cheap option and take the bus into the bus station in Venice then walk across the bridge on the grand canal. The hotel is just 10 to 15 minute straight forward walk. (See google street view) or take the number one water bus at around 7 euro per person but you still need to walk a few minutes to get to the hotel. I thought It was better value to get the 24 hour water bus pass which was twenty euro and used it to visit the island of Murono, Burono and to tour the grand canal.

Hi, the prices aboutthe water taxi are around 100€ from the VCE airport to Venice and to out hotel. we reccomend you to get a bus from the VCE airport and get to Ple Roma and then get a waterbus that will get you to the Ca D'Oro waterbus stop. When you will get off from there our hotel is reachable in 5 minutes.
For some restaurants this is a good site to get all of the info that you need, nearby or not to our hotel.
