I stayed in Al Teatro in May 2011 and had a wonderful time. The location of the accommodation couldn't be more central or more Venetian. Just hop on the Vaporetto from the train station and hop off at a stone's throw from Al Teatro - No steps or bridges to navigate with your suitcase. Instantly you feel as though you...

My husband and I stayed here the end of October, 2011 for 3 nights before boarding a cruise ship. We booked the Green Room, with a lovely view of two canals converging, and it was perfect for us. Best decision we could have made was to stay here. Her suggestions from before the beginning of our trip (To take the...

I stayed with my husband and my 3 kids at the Teatro B&B this summer. It was the perfect place to be! We had a very clean and Large bed room with a balcony on the canal. Ideally situated and very quite witch is priceless in Venice. I really highly recommended Eleanora's place.

Thanks to TripAdvisor reviews we booked a seven night stay at Al Teatro. We were NOT disappointed. We got the water bus from Marco Polo airport to San Marco and then it was just a ten minute walk to the B&B. Yes there are steps up within the house to the B&B but we travelled with rucksacks so this was...

Our recent stay at Al Teatro was great. The best review I can give is that whenever we return to Venice we will be staying at Eleanora's place (Al Teatro B&B). We felt as though we lived in Venice; easy walking distance, pleasant accommodations, wonderful people. The views from our room were great - overlooking the canals, colorful buildings, picturesque walking...

In late August while touring Italy my wife and I stayed three days in Venice. We selected to stay in the San Marcos area. After an extensive search for the right place we picked "B&B Al Teatro". We were not disappointed. Al Teatro is a historic three bedroom residence located next to the Opera House and less than five minutes...

We stayed 3 nights at the recommendation of our friends and it was the highlight of our Italian holiday. Wonderful location close to everything but quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Ample space in 1 room for 2 aduts and one child. Eleanora was always so helpful with her advice. Our room looked down over the canal and...

We stayed at Al Teatro in early October and enjoyed it tremendously. Location was great and we found it easily from instructions on the website. Bedroom (Green Room) and ensuite bathroom were a good size and we enjoyed experiencing the sights and sounds of Venice through windows overlooking the canal. We enjoyed Eleanora's wry humour in conversations over breakfast and...

I booked this B&B after viewing the hotel that my travel agent had sugested for me and my partner stay in. I was looking for an authentic stay in Venice and the hotel was not at all what I wanted- it looked plastic and unauthentic. I was looking for the real venice and not the touristy places. Al Teatro is...

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and had a lovely stay. Eleanora was very hospitable. The room was kept tidy at all times, she accommodated us in every way. We had to do laundry so she had a private service called for us and had it placed in our room. The location was perfect. Hidden in...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
